A friend of mine introduced a wonderful idea into her garden. She has a special plot and in it she grows plants and cuttings given to her over the years by her friends and family. She said each time she waters or weeds the garden, she thinks of all the friends who together made up this little patch in her yard. I have an enormous clump of rock orchids that my father-in-law gave to me as the registered gardener in the family when he moved into an aged care unit. He died a few years ago, but every time I water this spectacular plant and every spring when it comes into flower, I think of him. Plants really do have the ability to invoke many happy memories. Does anyone else have a favorite plant story to share?
