We stayed at the one in Quebec. Very cool. (had to say it.
Here is our embarassing tale. We went to Quebec for the Winter Carnival a few years back. Had to be around five or six years ago? Anyway, it was one of the coldest winters, even for Quebec City. COLD. So we go to the Ice Hotel and it isn't bad at all. The inside stays around 28 F, which isn't too terribly cold considering the outside. And yes, it is absolutely beautiful inside.
But we go and snuggle into our sleeping bags. They tell you to keep your face outside the bag, but I snuggled all the way in it. Slept fairly well. Only had to go to the bathroom once. (BRRRRRRRRR.) So in the morning, DH and I, the super geniuses that we are, decide to go out to the car to warm up.
Oh yeah. Real smart. 'Cause it is only a zillion below 0 outside and a nice toasty warm 28 inside. Needless to say, the car wouldn't warm up and we drove around the lots there with the windshield frosted over. Really brilliant. Would have been a lot warmer right inside the ice hotel.
Anyway, it is a fantastic experience and it is just so beautiful. You don't have to spend the night in the one in Quebec City, you can just tour it and marvel. It really is spectacular. I'd do it again, if the dollar ever strengthens again so I can justify travel outside of the country again.
