Default The Olymics in Beijing

Anyone watching the opening ceremonies? IT IS STUNNING!!!! and just amazing how the people can move. I think it is the best one ever done.

Also, the countries are parading not in traditional alphabetical order - but in the order of strokes it takes to write their name in the Chinese alphabet. So it is Chinese alphabetical.

Absolutely amazing presentation.

I am sure you will see it on the news. But check it out here The whole thing of the dancers walking around the earth - standing sideways - was awesome. Also they took the art of the stadium "wave" to a new level.

Take a look at this kid.

Lin Hao is marching with Yao Ming. Thats a very small 9 year old marching with a 7 foot tall basketball player.

The child is an earthquake survivor. 20 of the 30 children in his class died. He survived. He freed himself from the rubble, and WENT BACK, risking injury, to save other surviving classmates.

NBC reported that when he was asked why he did this, he answered that he was the hall monitor, so it was his job to look out for everyone's safety.

Heros sure come in all sizes.

I watched it with my niece and nephew. They loved it, and so did I. They were amazed at all the different countries there were. It was beautifully done.

One of the TV announcers said that after this opening ceremony - "retire the trophy" for opening ceremonies. It was that good. Usually I don't care for these spectacles, but this was truly amazing on any level, and when you consider China's emergence in the past 20 years it is truly unique.

Back to the little boy Lin Hao - I think he was having the time of his life. A remarkable child.

Yes it was amazing. Our bloggers are blogging extensively on it this week and next in the fitness and popular culture blogs. I didn't realize the little boy with Yao Ming was an earthquake survivor.
