Default things are happening fast, bit scared

Hi ladies well i saw this new dr today and I am impressed! He was really really good but I am a bit upset that I have basically wasted the last 10 months on this other dr, but I need to get over that. So right now we are going to try iui with clomid (which I am taking right now) from day 2 - 6, then from day 7 - 10 I am to do injections of puregon (fsh) then a scan on day 11 to see whats happening then if all looks good the iui on day 14. Also progesterone support because of my miscarriages, which again maybe is because of my age.

What I wanted to know as I am a bit concerned about the injections of puregon, I am concerned about producing so many eggs (like 15!), have any of you had experience with this and what exactly happens? I am on a dose of 75, which is low, my friend who is doing ivf produced 20 eggs but of course they retrieve them, but it's different with iui. And what is the chances of overstimulation which is quite serious? I have prepared myself for the possibility of twins (remembering that there is a big chance it won't even work), but any more than that is frightening. It is such a dilemma because we so want another baby, but we have to take these risks to get there, it sort of doesn't seem fair!

Another thing weighing on my mind is the possibility of problems at birth because of my age. I know it is a risk, but life is full of risks and we will never know if we don't try. We want to add to our family, so we need to do this and hope all is okay. Thanks for listening, any advice would be appreciated. Best wishes.

wow, good for you for being proactive in your care!! i dont know very much about the fsh injections, or anything else, really (sorry i cant be more help). i do know a person who currently is carrying quints (YES:::5!!!!) (from clomid alone, believe it or not, just a 1 in a million chance), she is going the route of selective deduction and is going to keep the strongest 2-3. that is a very personal and tough decision that nobody should have to make, but as stated previously, it is a VERY personal decision. hopefully somebody with experience with those medications will be able to help you more. goodluck with everything!

Well I was doing an injectables cycle when they ended up turing it into an IVF cycle b/c I had over 26 eggs! I went in for my regular u/s to check when to plan my IUI and the Dr. said either convert to IVF or cancel the cycle b/c the chance of Mult. babies was way to high! I also ended up with OHSS (overstim.) and it was not fun! My tummy was sooooo sore from them taking the eggs and then all the fluid from the OHSS made things VERY painful! It took about a week for me to feel better but it did go away. I had a mild/mod case of OHSS but then again I also had 26 eggs! If you have to many eggs they will either convert your cycle to IVF or make you cancel it. Most Dr.'s wont do an IUI if there is more than 4 mature eggs! I hope this works for you! Good luck!

BTW: OHSS is not very common in a normal injectables cycle. So with you doing clomid the risk is even lower! Your on a low dose so you should be ok. I was on 250 of puregon! I believe the exact number for OHSS in less than 3-5% of women get it!

Hi there,
I hope you all don't mind if I join you. I found this site today and you all seem so nice and are going thru the same thing I am. My name is Lexie and I'm getting ready to do my 3rd IVF attempt. My first one last October I got severe OHSS and ended up in the hospital with a drain sewed into my belly for 6 days. They drained over 20 liters of fluid out of me and I lost 32lbs in 5 days. I was pregnant with twins at the time but miscarried at 8 1/2 weeks. The second IVF we did was a FET (frozen embryo transfer). We put in 3 and only seen one for a couple of weeks then seen two then back to one, etc. Miscarried at 9 weeks and 3 days. We never seen any heartbeats this time. I am in the process of my next IVF attempt, my ovaries are really hurting again. My first IVF attempt I produced over 100 eggs. They left several in there to reabsorb because nobody needs that many. Anyway they told me that the chances of OHSS were very slim, but leave it to me I got it horrible. I couldn't breath, I was throwing up, etc. I thought I was going to die. Anyway I made it thru it luckily! I do have PCOS. I'm nervous about this cycle because I'm hurting already and egg retrieval is 5 days away. I don't want to get that sick again. You all were talking about clomid, that is what my mom took and I am a triplet. She took one cycle of 100mg and boom here we are. I have a son who will be 7 in October and we tried for 2 years on our own and 3 cycles of clomid and got pregnant. We've now been trying for almost 6 years (will be in August). We've did 17 cycles of clomid, 5 IUI's (3 of which with injectibles) and now we are on our 3rd IVF attempt. It's soooooo frustrating. I hope to get to know you all, take care!
Good Luck Maria!
