Default Things to do near Palm Springs -- any tips?

Our favorite day trip turned out to be a place managed by the Nature Conservancy called Big Morongo Wildlife Reserve. There is 6 miles of hiking trail in this park which has a year round water supply. This means many species show up, even some that are rare. Trails take you through a variety of habitats. The headquarters had several popular bird feeders that attracted many birds.

Another area to see is the Salton sea. It attracts bird's during the winter and there's a spring birding festival in the area. The trip around the Salton sea is rather rigorous -- the road is slow and long. There's some interesting fruit plantations down one side. Also some parks where you can get out and take a good look. I've never seen so many Western Grebes before.

Default There's the aerial tramway, too.

It's quite nice this time of year, but MUCH cooler at the top. Bring a jacket!

The ariel tram is amazing anytime of the year! I had been to Palm Springs so many times and just found out about the tram last year. It is reasonable and always a good time!

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall are all great times to do the tram ride. There are many different plants and flowers that bloom in each season, which makes for a beautiful view from the tram.
