this week is getting worse...
My poor little boy is sick. And we didnt even notice he was actually getting sick. He has 5 teeth coming in so his runny nose, was nothing in our minds. He isnt eating right for awhile now and BAM today he has a fever. We gave him tylenol and motrin within the past couple hours. He took a nap and we just took his temp 102.1. ARGH!!!! What else will go wrong. I am hoping that he will be ok. I know that the nasty nurses around here wont even let him into the ER unless his rectal temp is over 103. So here I am irritated as hell because my baby is miserable and there is nothing I can do. I am giving him juice and pedialyte.

I have brought Ellamae to the doctor a couple of times for the same symptoms, her highest temp reached 103.7 and I nearly had a heart attack. It turned out to be just the teeth. And if it happens again (and it does frequently) I still call and give the symptoms and see what they will say. It never hurts to let your doctor know what is going on. As long as his fever doesn't get too high, he stays hydrated and alert I wouldn't worry and call in the morning. How is he acting?

he just wants to sleep all day he isnt even acting like himself. He is scared to be alone if DH or I leave him in a room alone for even a second him comes crying after us. This is nothing like him. The cute thing he did is he loves the T.V commercials that have songs. He normally dances to them. he was DEAD asleep and sat up to the Free Credit Report. Com commercial started to dance and then went right back to sleep. I gave him some more motrin and it seems like his fever is down a lil. It just isnt going down below 100 which is what worries me.

Ladies, I'm just going to share what happened to us because it turned out to be a big deal. . .and we had no idea. My son got like this, and even more crankier at night when his teeth were coming in. Turns out, he had ear infections. His ears were so filled with fluid that he couldn't hear properly and he didn't speak until well after he was 3 or so. He still has side affects from it. Obviously I'm not a doctor but I would highly recommend that you insist, stamp your feet, etc. that the doctor check for an ear infection thoroughly--we missed it entirely which almost led to tubes and other such things.

I don't even own a thermometer. So wouldn't have a clue if any of mine have had a temperature of over 100. I've always gone by the theory look at the child not at a thermometer. I'd get him to the doctor and ask they throughly check him over. You said yourself he's not been eating and he's constantly sleeping.

he doesn't sound good at all, it sounds more than teeth to me... the other month Gabby was like kinda like that in mood; wouldn't play just wanted to be held etc... she had a low grade temp for days (would go with paracetamol and her mood picked up), two days before she had cut a tooth but with the temp the gum had swell over it, i didn't think much of it... turns out she had gingivitis (most likely viral especially considering DH end up with a bad ear infection as well)

If he's acting lethargic, you need to take him in and demand that someone sees him. Like it's been said, it could be something worse that needs to be taken care of... You can always just sit him in a luke warm bath and let that try to break the fever, too.
