Question Ticks??

There was a bug on Kianna's neck right by her spine and it was so small I thought it was dirt but when I tried to move it, it didn't come off...So I asked what it was and silly people told me it was just a scratch! So wasn't one it was sticking up out of her....so I got a hold of it (which was very hard) and pulled. It came off and ran I about peed my pants because until this point I didn't know it was a living thing! I tried to look it up but not too sure....it was black and super super small. I didn't see legs on it but it must have had them. What do you think it was? Also...if it was a tick and I pulled it out too soon and the head is still in there...would I be able to tell and what would that do to her?

We were at at friends house and the kids had been playing outside in the back yard all day and their kids also took turns holding Kianna before we left.

It sounds like it was a tick just by the nature of you finding it embedded in her skin...Did it look like any of the pics in the link I posted? Do you still think that part of it is in there?

sounds like a tick... i think you should take her to a dr to check if the head is still in plus sometimes tick can cause illness so the dr will be able to give you something for that

I would not hesitate to take her to the doctor tomorrow. Ticks can carry Lyme disease which is fairly serious, probably more so in infants. Let us know what you find out.

Please please listen to every one else and take her to the doctor.
Ticks are nasty things, and they do carry disease.....the worst of which is Lyme Disease.
Usually you get them if you are in the woods, but you can end up with one in a residential neighborhood, or anywhere........really strange.
But, you definitely want to take her to the doctor to make sure the head is out.....and to screan for Lyme.
Also if Katelyn was playing out with them too, check her from head to toe. And that means everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They usually like to be in the hairline, just out of site. But they could be anywhere. A friend of mine had a dog that brought some ticks in the house and her daughter ended up with a tick just inside her girlie parts. Yikes!!!!!
