Totally and completely clueless!!!
We just found out today that our newest bundle is a girl and we are totally clueless about names! DH and I can't seem to agree. He hasn't come up with any suggestions of his own, but he's not a fan of some of them I like.
Her big brother is Joshua.
I really like Elizabeth, but am not a fan of Liz or Lizzie. Because my son is Joshua and I want him to stay Joshua instead of Josh I don't feel like "fighting" to keep people from calling my daughter by a shortened version of her name. Besides, DH doesn't like it, so it's off the table.
Right now I'm kind of leaning towards Grace Elizabeth, but now that I've found out Grace is extremely popular/trendy and I don't want there to be 5 Grace's in her class when she goes to school. I like Karis, which is the Greek word for Grace, but DH doesn't because he thinks it's too different.
DH is a huge fan of traditional names, so we'll probably stick with something traditional and classic. When I was pg with DS we'd considered Hannah if we'd ended up with a girl. I was never in love with the name, but it was the closest we could come up with that we both agreed on. Now I really don't like it so as soon as I found out I was pg this time I told DH it was off the table.
DH's middle name is Ray and I thought it would be cool to possibly use Rae as a middle name, depending on the first name . . . especially since this little girl is due on her daddy's birthday.
Now that I've rambled on and on about our name "requirements" do any of you have any suggestions?

Rae is a perfect middle name (My dd is Jaeclyn Rae )
My cousin is Shelby Rae....love that name as well...
Some names that are hard to shorten are:
Savannah (kinda like Hannah too if DH likes that name)
Ashley
Sarah
Emily
Megan (theres Meg, but not used as much as most shortened names)
Lauren
Rachel
Amber
Kayla
Michelle
Amy
Alyssa
Erin
Kelly
theres a ton more if you dont like any of those

Our oldest dd is Elizabeth and when she was little I called her 'beth'. when she started talking she flat out insisted on being called Lizzy. Just an irrelevant fact I thought I'd share!
I agree--Rae is a great middle name. Karis is an incredibly popular name here. . .I know 6 little Karises. (?? what is the plural of Karis anyways?)
If we had had triplets. . .the third would've been Kaitlyn Grace.

Thanks for the help!!! Long before I met DH my favorite girls name was Lauren Renee. Well . . one of his nieces is Lauren, so my in-laws would have two granddaughters with the same name, so that's out!
I love the list you compiled!!! Thank you VERY much!
I just re-read the list and saw that Michelle is on it. My middle name is Michelle, so for about 5 minutes I thought Michelle Rae would be neat just because it would be a blending of both of our middle names, but if it weren't for that I wouldn't be a fan of Michelle. We'll see what happens!
Valorie--I love all your kids names--and even suggested Laura the other night to DH. His response was "Well, I don't hate it"

Oh. . .thanks! We pick names based on meaning so everyone's name means something special. Ironically with the twins, it's their middle names that have significance. . . . . .and their first names were chosen to go well with their middle names. Also, Laura was my dh's pick. . .but it suits her well.

The meanings are very important to us, too (hence Joshua for our DS, and the names we're considering for DD!)
DH would prefer Biblical names, but that's not necessarily a requirement for me. DS' middle name is Neal. My FIL is Jack Neil and my grandfather was James Neale so we got both sides of the family covered in one name and modifying the spellings so it wasn't exactly like either.
DH's middle name is Ray after his grandfather who was Vernon Ray, so by using Rae it would be another multi-generational name, but as evidenced by Grace Elizabeth we don't have to use it (I actually like it better than DH does!)

Yeah. . .Biblical names were not a requirement for us either. That's bc we couldn't name our kids the same name as any of dh's rotten students. So I loved the name Caleb--but too many bad apples named Caleb. Then there's Aaron--but again, Aaron's mother was horrible and consequently little Aaron was horrible. Girls here tend to have more ethnic names that wouldn't have suited our family. So the girls were a little easier-- --good thing too since we kept having girls.

I am 18.5 weeks.
Though I'd LOVE to have more (total of 4-5) DH is pretty adamant that this is the completion of our family so since we already have a boy I was kind of rooting for a girl because we've always said we wanted one of each. Now we have them!
Part of the reason we're stopping now is DH will be 42 in September and I'll be 32 next month. We met when we were 26 and 36 and got married when we were 27 and 37. Because the cut off date for schools here is September 1 our kids will be the oldest in their class (DS is 8/20, but we'll start him a year later than his b'day would allow) it is entirely probable that even if she graduates college in 4 years our daughter will be 23 when she finishes. Her 23rd b'day will be on or about DH's 65th, so college and retirement are going to hit relatively simultaneously for us. DH doesn't want to have to work full-time until he's 80 just to pay tuition

Good luck on finding a name!
