Default trick or treaters

Halloween was yesterday and dh and I were excited to see how many kids we would get this year. We live on a some what busy street, with no sidewalk, so we don't normally get that may kids. Just the kids next door. Well our front door is not useable (long story) and needless to say the doorbell doesn't work either. So there is a note on the front door to please use side door. Most of the kids saw the sign and came to the side, a few didn't but they were really small ( so cute ) and I was able to here them knock in the house.

We had a few older kids (10-12 maybe) never bother to stay thank you or anything! The one had a mask on and was talking on his phone and handed me his bag so that I could give him his treat! Like he was doing me a favor by taking something from my house!!! The last group of boys that came by were really rude! They complained that they had to walk up my front steps to read the sign to go all the way to the side door, maybe 35 feet away and knock! One of them told me the door bell didnt' work. I told them I knew that and that is why the sign was on the door. One boy hackled that he was illiterate! The other told me to buy a new one! I was fuming after that!!! I wanted to chase them down and follow them home to talk to their parents! I think their parents should have been out with them walking the streets going door to door! But that's just me!

I'm sure my anger is more fierce since I'm on clomid! DH was surprised that I didn't go out an tackle the kids for my treat back! !!

As we were trick or treating last night with the girls more than 5 times a big group of kids that were clearly too old to be out either cut in front of our little ones or knocked them over or almost knocked them over. Being 9 months pregnant and crabby I let them all know what I thought about them being out trick or treating at thier age and that they are being soooo rude to the little kids who are trying to have fun! We trick or treat in the same neighborhood that I grew up in so I actually knew most of the 15 and 16 year olds, I hope they tell thier moms that I yelled at them, maybe they will not let them go next year!
The rule in our house, as a kid, was when you got into middle school you couldn't go anymore, which is 5th grade here so about 11 or 12 years old. I think that is PLENTY old enough! My 10 year old niece pouted 1/2 way around the block cuz my brother told her that this is her last year. I told her she better cheer up and enjoy her last trick or treating!
I don't understand why High Schoolers have to go trick or treating, most of them don't even dress up! And they ruin it for the little ones who are just OVER THE MOON excited for Halloween!
I don't blame you for being mad about those boys giving you a hard time, if they don't like it don't come to your house-PLEASE!

And to think I felt bad because my porch lite was burned out.

I had mobs of little ones, properly escorted by their parents. A few who looked to be about 12, but not much.

They just enacted a curfew in my town, so this year for a change there was no visible cabbage night stuff. With the drug situation here, it is no longer harmless to let your kids out on a school night until all hours to perform "mischief".

The kids were really cute, and most said thank you, and most were prompted by their parents. I enjoyed leaving the door open and watching them go up and down shouting trickortreat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. I couldn't leave the door totally open because catzilla wanted to be part of the action.

Lots of phillipinos, hispanics, and koreans, and they are very family oriented, so none of that smartmouth stuff on halloween, which is refreshing.

We get a lot of teenagers trick-or-treating here, but in general they're pretty good. When we dropped by my brother's house last night around 8:30, there were packs of kids, probably 13-15yrs old, going around. I was actually pretty impressed -- there were a lot of really creative costumes, stuff you could tell wasn't all store-bought or that obviously required some amount of imagination to put together. My nephew, on the other hand, has been notorious the past few years for dressing all in black with a store-bought mask...

We had a lot of fun... yeah right. Tell me what idiotic woman pulls a trick on a three year old!!?? You know those bowls that have the hand in them, that when you stick your hand in the bowl the hand snaps down on you??? Well, she had one and pulled that stuff on my sdd who literally jumped 6 ft into her mother's arms and refused to go to any other house after that. Then once we were home she could not be left alone in a room. I fell asleep on her bed last night at 9:30pm and ended up in my bed by 10pm... I was so angry at that woman!!! I had clothes I needed to wash last night but instead I ended up with a growth on my leg becuase she terrified my little girl!!!!

OMGoodness... Gabriel is four, and he reacted badly to those when we were in WalMart the other day. Didn't like them at ALL, and that was from three feet away. I can't believe someone would do something like that to a small child!!!

I hate when kids do that and are rude! But I totally dissagree with the 12 year old age limit.

I was still trick or treating at 16...I stopped that year....my friends and I used to have fun every year coming up with costumes. I sewed a BIG Fat pumpkin one year...It was so much fun. I can understand where you are coming from though...I don't like the rude teens at all...and I have a naughty pile of treats...I give the good stuff to kids that are polite and have neat costumes.

Me too! I've never had a problem with kids trick or treating at any age.

Oh my goodness. Let me tell you about it. I had trick or treaters come to my door at 10/11 o'clock. Me & Kelsie stopped at 9. These kids were like 15,16 years old. Many of them were dressed as playboy bunnys/whores/skimpy outfits, etc. They didnt even have younger kids with them. It was awful, my mom even went as far to refuse to give candy to this older group [17-18], they weren't even dressed up! It was crazy.
