Default trip to the hospital!

So we had a little adventure to the er today! the temp hit 101 here today & DH turned off the ac during izzy's nap! she already cooks in her sleep, but without that AC it was SO much worse. when i got her, she was literally shaking from being so hot! i immediately put her in the kitchen sink with some cold water, then we took her temperature. within no time at all it hit 101.7 and wasn't slowing down. so we put izzy in the car and off we went. we got there, and we waited. finally got called back, they took her temperature 103.7* F. gave her some tylenol and said "okay, you're all set. go back out to the waiting room and we'll call you back in 2 hours and give her motrin." are you kidding me? i have a 9 month old baby with a temp of 103.7 and i'm going to sit in the waiting room so you can give us more medicine? i can do that at home! so we left & took izzy to a friend of the family's pool. got her temperature back down to normal & she's perfectly happy laughing & playing. i'm still amazed their entire plan was to have us sit there while rotating meds. i'm concerned about heat stroke, and the nurse was concerned about a cold.

did i/am i over reacting? when it's 101* outside, is it normal to treat for a cold instead of over heating?
