Default Trying to find my best friends son and daughter...

Hi everyone, Quite a few years ago, my best friend was faced with the hardest choice of his life. He fought the court system for a couple years and didn't want to give up custody of his children. He finally gave in to the system because he knew his kids would have a better chance at life then what he could provide at that time. That was over 10 years ago and he still feels the loss, still cries over losing them, but hopes that someday, they'll look for him. His only demand to the court was that they not be separated, which they agreed on. I'm not certain if I can post the names here, or if someone can offer a place where I, the Godfather, can start my search for them. My friend (the father) has no idea I'm doing this, but I would like to give him peace of mind in knowing his kids are in fact doing well. Can anybody offer any advice, suggestions or ideas on where I can begin this quest? I thank you, The Godfather of hope.

I don't know if my advice will be of any help for you, but I do have a couple of suggestions. First, are the kids now over 18? I know that you won't be able to search for them unless they are now over the age of 18. Second, do you know the agency in which they were placed? I'm not sure how it works with the court system in this senario, but my husband was adopted and he recently began the search for his birth parents. The place where he has to start is with the agency in which he was adopted from. He pays a fee, he writes a letter to his birth mother and sends pictures, the agency sends the letter (if they can find the mother), and then the mother can choose to contact him if she wants to. Sounds simple, but it's really not.

I am also concerned that since you aren't the birth father the agency might not let you do the search. I am almost positive that they won't. But I could be wrong!

I know I don't have a lot of advice for you. Our situation is backwards from yours and your friend's, so I only know the in's and out's from this side! Good luck!

depending on what age they are maybe you can put their names into face book or one of thise kinds of websites that search for people.
