Talking Twilight Series

So I've had a pretty serious case of strep throat for the last 5 days and I'm a huge paranormal romance reader. Since I couldn't talk and had nothing better to do (Dh has had the last 3 days off of work and was taking care of Nevy while I got better) I started reading. I'm a huge Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward and Jaquelyn Frank fan but those are more "Adult" type vampire/paranormal romance books.

My little sister is 15 years old and had told me about the Twilight books. I didn't really pay to much attention b/c I thought they were "kids" books. Then with all the buzz over the movie I figured I would read the book (had no idea there was 4 of them ).

I bought it a few weeks ago but didn't have time to read it. Well I started it Tuesday night(really Wed. morning since it was 12:30am) and couldn't put it down! I read the book until 6am when I finished it! I was actually shocked at how good of a book it really was! So good that I went out and bought the other 3 books. I read each book in one day (some were over 500 pages ). I could not help myself! I fell in love with Edward Cullen and Bella Swan and here I thought it was just a "kids" book!

So has anyone read the series? What are your thoughts? What are your thoughts about the movie vs. the book (I thought the movie was WAY off from the book!)? Anyone else mad that Midnight Sun (Twilight but in Edwards point of view) might not ever be fully published b/c of the leak?(You can still get the first 12 chapters on Meyer's site HERE)

I am just wondering if I am the only person over 20 years old who's been reading it but if you have not read the series I REALLY recommend it even if your not into paranormal books. It was a great love story!

Well I did like the movie it was just that it wasn't really like the book. I mean it hit some of the major plots and twists but it just didn't feel the same. I love the girl they picked for Bella. I think she is perfect but I dont like that guy they used for Edward. He seems a little flat in his acting (if any teen girl heard me say that they would stab me in the eye ). He doesn't really show the love Edward has for Bella in his acting. It made me think that even more after reading Midnight Sun. Since he knew he was in love with her before they became friends. I hope since the budget on New Moon is bigger that the movie is better. It's suppose to come out 11/20/09.

Rhi- I never read Harry Potter but I did love the movies! If I would have watched Twilight the movie first I dont think I would have read the books b/c the movie wasn't that great. I give it like a C+ but I give all the books a A++++++++++++++++

Oh I am totally with you My sister gave me Twilight for Christmas and by the end of the week I had bought and read the rest of the series. I felt a little special connection to the book too because I grew up 2 hours from Forks and played softball against Forks High. I may just have to go back for a visit I would love to see Midnight Sun finished, I read the chapters on the page and it was great to see that perspective. The whole thing made me feel like a hopeless romantic teenager

Haven't read this series, but do enjoy reading!

I haven't yet, but I probably will. I am obsessed with Buffy and was for sooo long, but I'm not as bad now. And a friend and I would watch it constantly- we'd even have Buffy marathons. So I'm kinda "into" the whole vampire thing. SHe's read it and said its great sooo I'll probably borrow it off her. I always like to read the book before the movie-- except for Lord of the Rings.

Anyway I'm rambling, glad you enjoyed it and hope you feel better soon!

The girls at work were none stop talking about the books, so I said give me the first one. I read it and couldn't put it down. Before I finished I made sure the girl at work gave me the second book and that was done in no time. She gave me the third last week and I finished it this morning, and now feel helpless because I don't have the fourth book yet! I have to tell her tomorrow to bring it to work, and I'll have to wait until Tuesday for the 4th! I can't wait I need to know what happens!!

DH and I were suppose to go last weekend to see the movie but our babysitter fell through. So I hope to see it in the theater before it's gone but I don't see that happening.
