Two Miracles 10/30/07!

We have wonderful news - miracles have happened!
Some people say that miracles only happened in the Bible.
Imogene has proven that miracles happen in 2007!
It is 10/30/07 to be exact.
We want to thank you for each of your good wishes,
kind thoughts, and mostly for your prayers to Jesus.
You know Mom (Imogene) suffered a stroke this past week
with blindness in her right eye, unable to use her right hand,
and weak right leg. She also had a time where she could not speak
and could not swallow. She was ready to go to her heavenly home.
Hospice RN came on Saturday at noon with follow-up on Monday with another RN and the SW.
Mom failed to meet the Medicare criteria for Hospice, per the medical director on late Monday afternoon.
(People die every day from many different diseases, but that does not mean they qualify for Hospice.)
Mom had a private sitter/cna Monday night, so I could finally get home to sleep in my own bed.
This AM was another rough time for Mom, even with a very nice sitter/cna helping us.
She looked really bad again. But at least she was not in pain.
Well, during supper in the diningroom tonight, was another
new couple Dorothy & Louie (the retired FBI man), Dad/Glenn, Mom/Imogene, and I.
Viola sat at Wilma's table for supper. (*giggles* If you knew both Viola and Wilma, you'd
be giggling too.)
Mom has been learning to eat with her left hand, and I have had to feed her/help her with her meals.
It is a very difficult thing for an adult to suddenly be unable to do the easiest things independently.
Guess what happened during supper tonight - Mom started eating her soup with her right hand with a spoon.
She winked at me.
Dad winked
and
we all started laughing with joy!
A miracle!
We let Dorothy & Louie in on our private joy.
Glenda, the helper lady/cna, came over and immediately saw too what was happening.
She gave Mom a big hug & kiss.
After supper, we had several telephone calls from family. And we shared our joy.
A miracle!
Sister, Becky M, just arriving to her home in WI from her Las Vegas trip,
called us and wanted a detailed update.
Becky M's birthday is tomorrow 10/31/07 and
Mom was recalling how it went to have a baby born on Halloween.
Glenda, the helper lady/cna, sent her husband to the apartment with a strawberry pizza
to celebrate Mom using her right hand.
A miracle!
I was just updating Becky M about Mom's problems,
that she ate soup tonight with her right hand,
that her right eye was not seeing at all and that
"we are now wanting a 2nd miracle...preferably within the next 24 hours."
Well, Becky M suggested that Mom close her left eye "the good one"
and look at me with her right eye.
"Hold up some fingers in front of Mom," she said on the telephone.
Mom could now see that I was holding up 2 fingers! Using her right eye and seeing!
A miracle!
Glenda came down and we had a strawberry pizza party
to celebrate Mom's two miracles today!
Now, we still have a lot of rehab for Mom and progress to make yet.
We take Mom back to see Dr. Hansen tomorrow morning.
John 9:25 He then answered,

Please continue those prayers to Jesus for Mom/Imogene!
