Default United 93

Has anyone seen the previews for this movie? its about the passengers of flight 93 on 911. I saw the preview, and it kind of makes me angry, that people would capitilize on the death of others. It was bound to happen. What are your thoughts?

I read an article about this in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago.

According to the article, the filmmakers had the blessings of the family members of those who perished. However, I still think it's too early for these movies. Be ready for Oliver Stone's movie about 911 that should be coming out next year, if not earlier.

I, personally, know I'm not ready for these movies. This event really took a toll on me emotionally even though no one I know was immediately affected.

Blessing or not, I think it is way too soon to start what when ineviably be a HUGE money making event on 911. Its a national tragedy not a money making opportunity.

I feel the same way. I was talking to my husband about it last night and I was all, I think I would just cry through that whole movie, luckily, I don't have to worry about making that choice because we don't watch rated R movies. I think that even though it seems soon, many people will go and see it. AND I think if he did have the blessings of the family members involved, then well, they were the hardest affected by it, and they should be the ones that should have had consideration taken for, which was done.

I think tons of people are going to go see it. I just worry that while this movie hadthe blessing of the family, the rest of the stuff that follows may not be done with the same thoughts of the family. This movie opens the floodgates.

I see what you're saying, and that makes sense.

Honestly I don't have a problem with the movie. If the movie was done without the consent of the family and the filmaker took a lot of liberties with what happened - I don't think it would be good. However, the filmmaker DID get the consent of the family members. I have listened to several interviews with the family members of the people who were killed that day and they have all encouraged people to go see the film.

Seriously? I really would like to do some research into the movie. Really I just dont like anything real being commershailized for profit in general. Now if the profits were going to help the families...maybe we could talk.

I don't know the details, but I do know that they are making a donation to the Flight 93 Memorial fund.

Here is a link of a transcript of an interview with one of the family members about the film.
