Default Urinary tract infections in toddler?

My daughter has been wetting in her panties for the past 3-4 days. I just thought it was normal regression (her little brother just came home from the hospital on Monday) until I took her potty this afternoon. When she peed she said that the pee-pee was itchy. This got me to wondering if the accidents could be signs of a UTI. I can get her a sick visit to the doctor on Monday, but how will they check her to see if it's a UTI? With me they always test a urine sample. Has anyone had a toddler with a UTI before?
