Default waking issues

So I've never really had too much of a problem with Kate and sleep...but lately she's waking up earlier and earlier every day. Today it was 2am. I am totally worn out. She's been fighting her naps too so no rest there! She goes to bed around 8pm and falls asleep around 9 or 10pm. She had room darkening shades because I thought it'd help her sleep in and has had them forever-ish...the other day they fell down and I didn't even bother putting them back up because she's up way before the sun anyway! We had taken down her gate so she could get up when she wakes but I put her gate back up last night because I need mroe sleep.....everyone here does. She has a very dim night light because she's scared of the dark and a noise maker thingy cause the neighbors are loud....Why is she waking up? I can't even begin to think to figure it out or fix it. Have suggestions? I don't think I am going to make it.

When she gets up that early, does she stay up?

Maybe you could try a late bedtime sometime this week to knacker her out before bedtime, to see if she sleeps well.

My 3 year old is the same way, though she's never been a good sleeper. It seems that if we put her to bed earlier than usual, she will sleep later than usual as well. It sounds backwards, but maybe give it a try.

Well, if she's hitting the point that she doesn't need naps, then she's probably going to be able to wear herself out a bit more as the days go on. Try getting a digital clock and tell her that until the first number says 7 (or whatever you want it to say), that she's not allowed to get up, unless it's an emergency. If Emma wakes up too early, I tell her that the sun is still sleeping, so she needs to go back to sleep, too. It works with her, although, she cries a bit. You could also set an alarm for her, and tell her that until she hears the beeping, she's not allowed to get out of bed for the day (again, unless it's an emergency). You can always try my "jar method". Put a glass jar in her room somewhere high, and tell her for every night that she stays in the bed until the beeping goes off, she gets two coins (get play money from the dollar store). When the jar is full, she gets to pick out a new toy (again...the dollar store! ). Make it so that it will take her at least a month to accomplish so that she can have time to get into the habit. If you don't want to do that jars, try doing stickers on a homemade chart.

You know, maybe this somehow has something to do with the new baby arriving...???

Jaecy went through the same things...is she getting outside at all during the day? I know you cant take her, but is there anyone else who may be able too? Thats the only way my girls will sleep well is if they get out of the house for a few hours

It's been really tough the past 2 weeks. I've been having contractions (seems like constantly) enough to make my mom worry about leaving even just to go to the park. So Kate has been inside. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I've been hurting so much...I don't want to sit in the lawn chair lol I donno what we're going to do but I'll try the clock thing. She already has one in her room and I think she knows numbers well enough. I don't know if she'll remember or care but I am so out of it. Something has to work. Tonight I'm gonna try keeping her up late....maybe her molars hurt too or something. She's still working on getting some of those. So if she wakes up too early we'll try tylenol (if I can think of it in the middle of the night) and if staying up late doesn't work maybe going to bed even earlier will..........I donno but I'm up for trying everything at this point. I just can't take her out and cant seem to convince anyone to do it right now

i tried all of that (clock, different bed time setc) with Jaecy and the only thing that works is getting her outdoors...which isnt always the best because of rain, etc. We just got back from a walk tonight and she ran the ENTIRE block (very big too) I would give her things to run too...the red car, the tree etc.She would stay about 15 ft ahead of us but no further and wait until we got to her to run to the next target. A few more weeks and hopefully the baby will be a good sleeper for you and you can get back outside again

I was wondering if you didn't engage her when she woke up if she would then lay back down? Or if she got to snuggle in bed with you, would she go back to sleep then?
