Default Walmart Player comes with Porn!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but did you see the story about the Wal-mart selling an MP3 player loaded with porn? A little girl got it for Christmas. You can read about it here:

I hope the man has enough sense just to let it go..... A consumer repackage that MP3 player so well, that it would be put back on the shelf. That person wanted this to happen, they find humor in the fact that it did happen. I do not want to see the prices go up, or someone lose there job over this.

Before people start yelling let sue Walmart, maybe they should try living in a country where shopping is not a hobby. Or better yet work at walmart over the Christmas holidays. To see how hard these people do work at dealing with the consumers.

One of the problems with this country is that everyone wants to sue. Yes, she saw and heard some things she shouldn't have, but it wasn't WalMarts fault. People look for a reason to sue so they can " get rich." Things happen and people just need to learn forgiveness. She wasn't hurt or killed and if she watches television she could see some bad things there, too. This world is getting worse by the minute and the only way to protect your kids is to put them in a bubble. Instead of sueing maybe the dad should just explain to his daughter that there are bad people who enjoy hurting others but that is wrong. Look for the lesson, there always is one.

If nothing else, Walmart has violated its own policy. If someone can get away with loading an eclectronic piece with porn and get away with it, then they need to figure out a better way to track returns/purchases. Pornography is not something to take lightly.

I think Walmart should have some responsibility. It sold a pornographic device that was then available to a minor. But I see your point, Mimi. For my part, I am reluctant to even let my kids watch television during the day. We can sit down to a nice wholesome early evening program, such as something on the Food Network, only to be hit with commercials that are scary or inappropriate.

I do feel that Wal-mart needs to own up to some responsibility though in fairness they did offer to replace the mp3 player. I think there should perhaps be a bit more compensation but not a sue happy type candidate.

The thing is, it might not be every wal-mart employees fault that it happened, however having lived all over the US and shopping at a whole lot of Wal-marts in my time, I cannot tell you HOW many times I have purchased something at Walmart that was so obviously PREUSED and returned. Let's talk about the great phone I bought there. There were numbers on the caller ID!!!!
How about the printer I purchased. The ink cartridge was HALF EMPTY and still in the printer. (they don't come IN the printer)
How about the toys we have purchased and there was food in one of the boxes. Shall I go on?

If there is a policy in place that says they will not place a returned opened item on the shelf, they need to follow it. Things should be checked to be sure they have not been tampered with. The box the phone with could have been opened and since the battery was in the phone and the memory had held the numbers, you could flip through and easily see that local numbers appeared on the caller ID. It was USED. Yet it was sold to me for well over $100 as new. It's irritating to be honest. Who am I supposed to blame?
