Unhappy Weight Loss "LOSS"

Hello everyone!
I am new here and I am in desperate need of help. I have been stuggling with my weight for about 5 years now and dont know how to control my motivation and eating habits. I have 3 children and a husband who seem to have the best metabolisms in the world. We all eat the same things and it seems as though I take on the weight for everyone. I have cut fast food out completely and I am not much for sugar. I just find it really hard to stick to a diet while having to cook meals for my family. I do exercise on a regular basis. I walk atleast 1 km per day and now the weather is becoming nicer I have pulled out my roller blades and bike. We are not unhealthy eaters...food groups are met in my home.
I am at a loss at where to start for myself and not interupt my families lifestyle. My ideal weight is 160 and I am now sitting at a terrible 214.

I'm not sure I have any ideas to help. My family doesn't eat veggies like I do. Plus I've cut out certain carbs that they still eat (like Hamburger Helper pastas). So often I'm eating the same meat but everything else if different. Like I have a small baked potato instead of instant mashed. I have 2 types of veggies just for me. Dh is good about fixing meals, esp if they are things I don't eat. So if I have leftovers of my veggie rich meals, I don't care if he fixes Tuna Helper for him and our son. Dh used to get upset about the extra pans I'd dirty for my veggies--since he does the dishes. But when I started losing weight, he stopped complaining. So don't feel like you have to have exactly what everyone else is having. A separate dish of something for you won't bother your family's life. For pasta, Barilla plus is a change we've made for me for the family that they don't mind.

Just a few general thoughts--not knowing if any might help your situation. Just trying to help Though, I have to say, IMO, 214 isn't "terrible". OMG, I can't even think of getting back that low again!!! Too far away forme even to think of reaching.

-- Do you keep a food journal that honestly records every bite? Maybe lil nibbles/snacks are adding up for you. If you don't keep a journal it might be helpful.
--Do you totally skip snacking only to be ravenous at dinner? Or what about your serving sizes at meals?
--When snacking, do you try to have both protein and carbohydrates?
--Although you mentioned not much for sugary stuff, are you using whole grains or more processed ones in pasta, breads, rice, etc? Do you check labels for hidden bad stuff like high fructose corn syrup? It is in tons of stuff that you might not suspect.
--Do you eat a fiber rich breakfast (supposed to be more filling) or skip breakfast?
--How much sleep are you getting a night? Lack of sleep can affect your weight and how your body functions.
--Have you had your thyroid tested? Do you possibly have any symptoms of PCOS? Both conditions might explain some weight problems.
--How is your water intake?
--Upping your excercise time daily might also help. Even just adding an extra mini walk of 10-15 minutes.

Best wishes with any effort you make! Roller blading always looks fun. But I never was coordinated when I was young to even roller skate.

Don't worry dear! This does happen that two persons do the same exercises but yet one loses weight very quickly while the other loses weight at a slower rate. This is because different people have different metabolic rate. i think that you need to increase metabolism in order to lose weight more quickly. I have got this advice from a very experienced person and i am trying to increase my metabolic rate too.all the best dear!

Default I need HELP

My kids are grown and I have health problems and my weight right now is 225 and I am 5'3. I watch what I eat. I do not do caffeine. I have not done any caffiene in over 30 years. Yes that means chocolate. My favorite drink is Propel Lemon Water by gatorade. My biggest problem is I can not excersise properly. I have a bad neck and back and the doctor said putting to much strain on it by walking can do it more damage than is already done. I have to take the birth control pill for fibroid tumors to stop heavy bleeding. That is what put my weight on after they put me on the pill. I feel like I am at a loss. Is there any help out there for me.

I am working on this very issue in my blog through Mission Possible. (The original creator of Diary of an overweight mom isn't here anymore!) Here are the blogs, and here is the thread.

Hello,
Loosing weight after having kids can be frusterating, I know for me it was. I have a 3 month old little girl. After I had her I was ready to get back in shape, I thought since it was easy to lose weight before it wouldn't be any different now. Boy was I wrong!. I did end up losing the weight . The site really helped me understand what I was doing wrong. I really like families.com I hope I can find some new ideas here.
