Local news. Most times truth is crazier than any fiction.
Case in point, local man decided to castrate himself today.
He is a pediphile and obviously needs help.
He decided to 'help himself' with a knife.
Oh my!
Any thoughts on this topic?

Blessed w/ 2 sons: age 23 & 20 in college & my elderly father 87, our 'older kid.'
I actually feel badly for him... he obviously recognized that his feelings were wrong, and for him to feel that this was his only option, he must have been desperate. It makes me wonder why he wasn't receiving more help with his problems.
I am kinda with Dee...i have feelings of sympathy for the guy. He obviously needed help and knew that what he was feeling was wrong. At the same time, it is hard to feel bad for somebody who hurt a child, especially in such a devastating way. I feel very conflicted about this!
My comment is, "Thank you, sir."
Dismembering oneself first is the proper procedure for doing pedophilia.
In like manner, shooting oneself first is the proper procedure for a mass murder.
In both classes of crimes, very few perpetrators do it properly.
And, mommydee, if he were not prosperous enough to afford psych treatment, and had not so aggrieved society as to be receiving supervised counseling in confined quarters, he may well have been aware of the moral taboo of his desires and perceived no other choice. Stress does limit rational decision-making.
Does castration really help with pedophilia or other sexual perversions? Or does the urge to dominate and control and abuse continue? Is there any research on this?
There is tons of research that does state that castration only leads to the offenders becoming violent....personaly I feel they should lock them up and throw away the key. They really can't rehabilitate these people...most know what they are doing is wrong but "can't help themselves". It just make me sick.
