Question What age did you start?

I was wondering at what age you started potty training your kids. I am starting to think about when to start with my son and wanted to get an idea of what you all tried.

umm Jack suddenly went clean and dry at 22 months, Molly was 26 months then I had Luke who wouldn't do it till he was 39 months. But he had/has chronic eczema so I couldn't let him get in the slightest bit wet as it was incredibly painful for him. Josh has just turned 2 and is still in nappies I'll leave him till next spring then try. They say 2 - 2 and a half I think, as a rough guideline but some kids get it way before and others don't.

My sons were potty trained totally
DS#1 at 2 and 3 months
and
DS#2 at 2 and 6 months.
DS#2 was trained for urine much earlier, but just did not like to sit and have his stools on the toilet. He was just plain toooooo busy.

If a child has enough control that he can walk, run, and play, those same
muscles are used to go on the toilet too.

I'm probably going to irritate some Moms here......
but a child that is running around age 4 in diapers,
unless there is a specific medical problem,
it is because that the caregiver or parent has not
taken the time to consistently teach the child to toilet train.

Tristan wasn't made to go to the toilet but had the option if he chose from when he was 18m, no big deal if he didn't want to. He had undies in the cupboard and at 2yrs 2months he just decided he was wearing undies and that was that, now only wears a nappy for night sleeps, and thats probably because I want to sleep between Callum's feeds more than anything and not be changing sheets. Slack I know but sleep is precious at the moment.

Both of the boys were ready when they hit 3 years old. It all depends on the child and if their ready.

3 with both boys. My youngest shows NO interest and his like a security blanket..grrr...

My older son was more ready. We slapped some big boy undies on him, let him pee a couple time to realize how yucky it felt and that was it! Those "Feel and Learn" diapers were a waste of my money.

Ditto on the feel & learn and/or pull ups. We use pull ups for our kids that didn't have bladder control at night so that they were "graduating" from diapers. . .but they're useless as potty training tools!

DD started pooping in the toliet around 2 and then we worked on peeing. She was trained by her 3rd b-day. I liked the pull-ups because when dd would pee it would leak out and she hated getting pee on her clothes (gross I know but it worked).

--Am I reading your post right? They worked bc they didn't work? They worked because the pee leaked out? That's so funny! I guess perhaps if mine leaked I'd like them a lot more. But since we only leave them on at night, I'm sure glad they don't. hee-hee-hee!
