Default What can I make for a new sister missionary

My niece goes into the mission field in 6 weeks and I want to make her a gift but what? She is precious to me and I had thought of making a quilt but not sure if this is a good idea. My sons wouldn't have appreciated that but I thought that if she needs bedding then why not a quilt? She is staying in her home country so we know the weather type. Her mum died a few years ago so I want to do the mum things for her whilst she is away. Her mum was a very special person and would be so excited for her. Any suggestions what I can make, I am already making her a temple dress, I can put my hand to most crafts.

Take her shopping. I rememeber that the female missionaries need specific "dresses". When they go on mission. You can help her out by going shopping with her to find stuff, that way she won't get discouraged.

While she is on her mission send her, her favorite treats...or a picture that reminds them of home. HTH

maybe a simple/cheap recipe idea book. She'll be on a budget, I've heard of a book that has a bunch of different ways to make Ramen. There are also 5 ingredient or less, cook books.

Or you could put all the basics on index cards, how long to boil an egg, how to cook rice, some of her favorite recipes her mom used to make.

A quilt sounds like a great idea. Comforting, sentimental and a little something from home. I would not forego this in lieu of supplies and practical things like the above posters mentioned...if you can swing it. A fabulous quilt and some necessities are great. Ofcourse write her a little something something that she can keep with her and she can refer to during trying times.

Thanks for the ideas. I really like the recipe book idea and also I love the idea of going shopping with her. When my first son went he asked me to go clothes shopping with him, we had a great time and we even used it as a missionary moment to the shop assistants who wanted to know why he was only interested in dark suits and white shirts. Son number 2 wanted to go it alone or with big sister.
Glad you think the quilt idea will work, thanks so much all of you from me here in the UK

Default Skirts!

Long modest skirts can be tough to find, and are essential for sister missionaries. I have an online store for LDS sister missionaries called Sorella Bella. To get an idea of cute styles, check it out at: http://www.sistermissionaryclothes.c...sta/prestashop
