Default What child birthday party activities do kids love?

What are some of your favorite activities to have for a child's birthday party. Here are some of my ideas for Activities, Entertainment and Games. I guess alot of it depends on the age.

I recently had a b-day party for my 8 year old & found out that a lot of the "oldies" are out...she gave me strict instructions to NOT have pin-the-tail-on-the donkey.

But arts & crafts are totally in-at least for her & her friends. They've had arts & crafts at every party this year & show no signs of getting sick of them yet. Tye die t-shirts, making their own wooden jewelry boxes, the list is endless.

The one oldie that WAS a big hit was the game Twister. I bet the girls played it a dozen times (Sydney's party was an overnighter). It has to be the "old" kind-I understand there's an electronic one (?) available but again, I was informed by the girls that that's not cool.

All the "rules" she listed for me made planning the event very anxious for me. I thought for sure the girls would be sick of painting wooden things-but no, they were thrilled to take their boxes home.

I would agree that arts and crafts are popular. The nice thing with arts & crafts is the almost vast possibilities. We have done some creative variations of the pin the tale game.

Surprisingly, "pin the tale" is only old to us....hehe. little kids have never heard of it and therefore have a great time. Our daughter and 8 other girls had a blast. There were prizes and lots of laughs.

Depends on the age. When we all went through the third-birthday party phase, most everyone just did the local pizza place. Now that we all did that ad nauseum, our peer group is tending more towards theme parties - local horse corral, local kid gym, local themed ice cream parlor (we're a little young for skating parties yet).

What age groups are you looking for?

Thank you. most of my ideas have come from experience with my daughter's birthday parties or parties that she has attended.

My daughter's favorites over the years have been pinata's, arts & crafts, and live entertainment like a clown act or storyteller. It's special to surprise her every now and then with something she never expected. You should have seen her expression when Cinderella showed up at her 5th birthday party.

I feel that kids are only young once and if we can make their early birthday parties special then why not.

We always do a craft at birthday parties. A fun one to do is to buy some caps or hats and then buy some sticky shapes and letters (found in the craft section, of anywhere like walmart) and let the kids design their own hats. Also, oriental trading has a lot of great crafts I like to choose from.
