What depression Med. do you prefer?
Has anyone ever been on Zoloft?
When I was in high school I was taking 50mg of Zoloft and 25mg of Trazadone (to help with sleeping), and both were great for me. I stopped taking them just before my senior year. Since Alex was born, I had been thinking heavily about going back on it, and talked to my midwife after Alex was born. I also talked to my doctor after Devon was born, but both times I got swept under the rug and the subject never came up again. I always felt like an idiot bringing it up because they always ask "Why do you think you're depressed?" which I know is routine, but I feel dumb talking about what I think/feel.
Anyway, recently I started having horrible thoughts and feeling that I know are just not normal. About a week ago, I was laying awake in bed (as usual) and I was feeling so down with saddness, frustration, and deep regret in my life, and I was thinking about all the bad things I could do to myself. Just when I started thinking that I could actually do these things, Devon started crying. He is such a god-send in so many way, but especially that night. He was my angel telling me to snap out of it, and get some help. So I called right away the next morning and made an appointment with a family practice doctor that I LOVE (but never have a reason to go to her! It's always OB stuff, and I've seen where that's gotten me!), and she was soooo great! We talked a lot about it, and I told her the same story about Devon crying and how that was my last straw (I can't even tell DH about these feelings and thoughts-- I'm so ashamed).
She prescribed me 50mg of Zoloft to start, and in 4 weeks I will go back and she will up the dosage to either 75 or 100mg, depending on how I feel. She also prescribed me Trazadone again, 25mg. I've been taking them both for 4 days now, and everyday I've had MONSTEROUS headaches and horrible body pains! Not to mention, I feel incredibly nausiated and still super tired, despite the fantastic night of sleep I've been getting! (Devon sleeps 10 hours now, by the way! Woo Hoo!) I do not remember these side effects from taking them the first time around. I don't remember having any at all, except maybe some lack of sexual arousal, which I hardly noticed because I was 17! LoL!
Has anyone else tried Zoloft? Did you have nasty side effects? If you aren't on Zoloft, what do you take and do you like it?

Sending you prayers & (((Hugs))).
No specific answer about which med would be best for you,
but I am so very glad that you are looking for the right choice.
If you are having these side effects, give your doctor a call back.
Please keep us posted on your progress!

I've been on Zoloft and Prozac. I didn't have any side effects with the 50mg. I'll be praying for you and sending you lots of because I KNOW what you're experiencing. I've "been there, done that". In fact, the other day a friend was so concerned for me that she asked if I'd thought about seeing a counselor again.
Lots and lots of

I am so glad to see that others know what I'm going through! I've been taking the Zoloft for almost a week now which isn't really long enough to see what the results will be. But the side effects have died off a little bit already. I haven't been so dizzy-high feeling the last couple of days. I had a couple of monster headaches, but realized that it wasn't from the Zoloft, but from the Trazadone. I was taking two Traz. at night, and now I'm just going to take one, hoping to eliminate the headaches!
My sister in law gave me the name of her therapist, too. She SWEARS by her, and is only taking new clients by referral, so hopefully I can get in. Otherwise I will find somewhere else to go. DH and I did marriage counseling over the summer, but I would like to find a different therapist than the one we saw.
Anyway, thanks again for the support, ladies! I really appreciate it.

My son was on zoloft. No headaches, but a flat affect, a dry mouth, and occasional stomach ache.
