We don't have grandparents, part of what happens when you wait to have babies, and your parents did the same! But some of my kids friends and some of my daycare kids from when they were little had some good ones.
Oma and Opa were Ohm and Ope for one kid.
We had a few nonnis. That was also the name of a security blanket. Nonni.
There are also some nanas and abuelas and poppies
I used to know one kid who understood that her grandma was grandma, but who was that guy her mom called "Daddy"? She figured he went with grandma, so she named him "grandmadaddy".
My grandbabies are 14 mos old twins (girls). They know me as "oma" (i'm originally Dutch) and my DH is "Pop Pop". When my parents were living, my kids called them "oma" and "opa". My DH said only my dad could be "opa" so he voted for "pop pop". My daughter wanted me to be "oma" as an honor to my mom. I was thrilled to be "oma".
I love the stories too! I think the Grandmadaddy one is so cute!!!
Well we don't have kids yet but I've thought about this. We'll have 4 women and 4 men.
My Mom and her hubby, MIL and her hubby, my Dad and his wife and FIL and his wife.
Should be fun!!!
My MIL is Nonni and FIL is Grandpa or Papa
As for my parents... stepkids don't know them and they're not involved enough to have any names for when this baby comes.
