Default What fertility topics interest you the most?

Hi everyone!
My name is Liz and I have just been contacted to start writing a fertility blog on families.com. I am curious to know if any of you have any thoughts on what kinds of things you would like to see discussed in a fertility blog. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!
Liz

We are not ttc anymore, but when we were, the thing that I found the hardest was handling the emotional aspects of it. It was so hard to hope for a pregnancy each month and then be disappointed. Perhaps you could provide advice for people on how to handle the infertility roller coaster?

Thanks Shoshanna!
You're right! I remember when I was TTC, the emotional aspects were definitely the hardest to deal with. The monthly "rollercoaster" definitely takes a toll, especially when one is trying for a while. I know that for me personally, my family and friends couldn't really comprehend just how hard it was on me emotionally, so I think you're right and it would be a good thing if people could look towards my blog as a place to make their TTC journey just a tiny bit easier.
I will definitely take your suggestion - thanks so much!
Liz

Exclamation Emotional Aspects of Infertility

I was pleased to see that the emotional aspects of infertility was the first response to your question. My husband and I are best friends with a couple who have gone through the pain of infertility. They now have two boys 7 and 2. He is a pschiatrist and she is a therapist. Both of them now work with patients going through infertility treatment.
Recently we developed a DVD that features 5 couples with infertility and the toll it took on their marrages and their own mental health. Several books are out there dealing with the issue but not all men are willing to spend time reading about emotional issues. This DVD has recommended interventions that can help couples going through this same issue.
It was interesting to find that most of the couples kept the issue private and did not discuss it with anyone. Now with the ability to discuss things via blogs more couples can get the issue out for discussion without feeling so exposed like they would if they were to discuss this face to face.
If anyone is interested the web site for the DVD is www.stewartinstitute.com.
I will continue to monitor this site for additional information.

Hello! Good luck with your blog!
I am currently pregnant, after 3 years of TTC. I found what really helped me through this emotional time, was to read/hear success stories, also what worked for others.
For the record, what worked for me, was to get diagnosed for endometriosis, then I had a laparoscopy for it. 2 months later, voila! Pregnant!
I guess that's the other thing that I think would be helpful when discussing fertility: the various gyno probs, such as endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, basically anything that can affect fertility, and may help point others towards a potential problem they may not realise they have.

Default Fertility resources

Hi, Liz,
A fertility blog is a great idea! I would like to see more reviews of various books and films on infertility and fertility treatments.
For example, I recently viewed a great documentary on infertility and IVF called Technostorks. My husband and I have been through six years of infertility and multiple fertility treatments, so I could relate. It follows real couples through actual procedures, not just the boring talking heads stuff. I felt very emotional, but upbeat after wathching it (the emotional scars are still all there) - that felt good. I would highly recommend it to others and am willing to write a review of it, if you'd like.
Almost forgot, information about the film is available at www.technostorks.com
Hope all is well.
Best,
Cindy.
