Default What in the world??? I'm losing my hair!

Last couple of times I have been washing my hair I have noticed large amounts of hair have been coming out. I have also noticed that my brush is getting fuller more often with hair. I looked this morning in the mirror and saw that I have a very thin spot near my temple. Looks like the hair is trying to grow back, but what is making it fall out???
I got an IUD about a month ago, I'm not on any meds except for prenatal vits that I take, I'm nursing, and I don't have any family history of baldness. Is there something that could be causing this?
I'm going to my Dr next Friday for her to check my IUD. Wonder if she can tell me what's going on.
Has anyone else had this issue? What did you do? What was the cause? Is there some vitamin/nutritional deficiency I may be having?

Don't freak out! This is totally normal Post partum Your baby is just 4 months old. I had the same thing happen as well as lots of other women I know. It's completly normal as you don't lose as much hair while you are PG, your body is just "shedding".

I've always had thick hair. It didn't increase while I was pregnant. I can see my scalp on my temple! My hair was never like that.
I have been reading up on the IUD and one side effect is hair loss. I hope I can get this squared up with my Dr. EEK!

Your hair doesn't get thicker with PG. It's just you dont lose it as you usually do. I would literally have "clumps" coming out when I took a shower or when I brushed.

BTW do you have a copper IUD? THis os the only one that has been shown to cause hair loss.

typical PP hairloss, it's no fun but no biggie. i had to make sure to unscrew the drain clog in the shower and clean it out every few days (so gross). i didn't find it nearly as annoying as all the baby hairs i have now where it's growing back in. when i pull my hair up it looks so sloppy with all the 2" flyaways!

I have the other kind of IUD. It's plastic. I hope the hair loss is temporary. I have the same flyaways all over my hairline. Very messy!
Thanks gals... I thought I was about to go nuts! Talk about freaking out! I've never had this happen before!

I feel your pain lol... Over the past couple of months I swear I swept up enough hair to make a full wig. I could see my scalp at my temples and down the sides, was getting pretty thin on top too. Freaked me out for awhile but I knew it was coming -- the same thing happened on Gabriel lol. It's finally starting to grow back in!
