what is your 2 yr old doing?
My 2 yr old DD seems to be (im not crazy, the ped even said so!) way far ahead of a normal 2 yr old...not that shes super smart or anything like that, just does things that i dont see other 2 yr olds doing....figured i would ask to see what your 2 yr olds are up too...
Jaeclyn Rae born 11/11/05:
totally potty trained (throughout the night as well)
speaks in well formed sentences ( ie "put the syrup on it, mom")
Has to wear deodorant and makeup (we pretend, keeps her happy)
knows the difference btwn numbers and letters (knows some by name as well)
can count to 11
sings songs on the radio (just the chorus)
relates people to objects (ie nana always goes with puppies because my mom has 5 dogs...."jaecy we are going to see nana today." "And the puppies?!")
knows a stop sign says STOP (we are driving and she sees one on the other side of the road I get yelled at to STOP!)
Anyway, tell me my kid isnt going to get married and move away from me when she's 10!

You're too funny! She's not going to get married and move away when she's 10! Maybe 18. . .
IME, girls tend to develop faster than boys anyhow. Potty training before 2 imo is pretty early. Or rather being completely potty trained. But yep, she sounds like she's going to keep you busy!

Ella was 2 in October and Jaecy seems much more advanced that Ella. Erin, my 1st DD, now 4, was like Jaecy. Full sentances, make up, hair done, dressed herself, knew her numbers and letters.. Maybe its a first born thing!
Just have fun with it and teach her a bunch of fun stuff, we did that with Erin. We told her the names of the Presidents on money when she was 2, she still remembers them now and wants to know information about them! She keeps us busy!

I've heard most girls learn to talk sooner then most boys...my little Aiden is already starting to spout out words and 2-3 word sentences and hes not even 18mnths yet
each child develops differently...my first was not like this at all

aiyana is almost 17mos and is saying over 70 words(ive stopped counting) says 2-4 word sentences(her biggest was "hey let me see that") she knows how to undress herself and helps me with getting her dressed, brushes her hair and has peed on the potty and can tell me when shes dirtied her diaper(we are working on her telling before she goes). she can point out differnt things i ask(ie puppy, kitty, ball, although she calls every animal baby right now, she has a baby fetish lol)i think the thing with the first born is true in alot of cases as we spend more time with them teaching them without another child to take care of

Not to bust the first born theory but I think it has as much to do with their individual personalities honestly. I have two children that would test as 'gifted' and one of them showed no signs of it until I sat down to do kindergarten with him at age 6. The other child is probably profoundly gifted (we won't test for it though) and that is one of the twins. OTOH, my first born talked very early and is definitely very bright. . .but her personality is just very verbal--KWIM? I often find that 'advanced' tends to even itself out and as they get older you begin to realize that some of these 'advanced' things are just part of who they are--if that makes sense. My son, who is also considered gifted, did talk until after the age of 3, didn't know his body parts, didn't do a whole bunch of stuff. In fact, we took to have him evaluated at early intervention. . . where he started to show signs of being highly intelligent.
So in some ways I think being first helps. . . but I also think that some of these things are just hard wired into who they are.

i totally know what u mean, aiyana has always been verbal, started really babbling at like 4mos and hasnt been quiet since...even talks in her sleep shes learned just about all her words on her own just by hearing people talk. she even knows some puerto rican from hearing our neighbors talk, of course i thought it was just babble till my neighbor said she just said "outside" and "drink" i was like wow. shes also very inquizitive and down right nosey. but my friends son is autistic and only says a handful of words at 3yro but is very smart and can figure anything out and is very mechanical
