I know I was fortunate to be blessed in adoption with wonderful adoptive parents. Of course there are no perfect parents anywhere in any families.
Looking back on my life and my growing up years I am filled with gratitude for parents who loved me unconditionally, as the Lord does. They shared with me the knowledge of my adopted status from toddlerhood on. They provided for me abundantly and often witholding things for themselves. They lived out a life of Christian faith to me- openly embracing godly values. They accompanied me to church weekly and urged me to attend. They read the bible openly and prayed to God in my presence. They lovingly confronted me when I was wrong and in grace corrected me so that I learned from my mistakes. When I embarked on my search for my birth parents, my adoptive parents fully supported my quest and never let their own emotions or reservations be known. They embraced my birth sisters and came willingly to one of our reunions to get to meet them. Thanks Mom and Dad- I hope I can be the same kind of loving parents to my sons as you have been to me.

I know some adoptees were not so blessed in their adoptive homes, which is truly sad. May they find hope and healing in their ongoing adoption journey. Please post here what your adoptive parents did right.
