Everybody is cutting back and saving more. How much of your net paycheck do you save? From a New York Times article in February 2009; Jack Healy stated that the average rate of savings in our country is 7% (since 1929). The surprising thing is when you compare American's savings to the Chinese, their average savings is 30-40%!

We put away 1/4 of my husbands pay check every pay day....it requires a lot of scrimping and cutting back on a few things but we are currently doing reno's in our home and saving this money is worth it. We however are not doing it because of the economy...my husband has a recession proof job.

I voted 21% or more, we save 1/4, it used to be more than that but now only I work as we need one of us at home to look after the children.
