I'd like to know this too. I am very new to couponing and you all seem to know when to use your coupons. I have been looking at the adds but then it seems when I use my coupon, a week later the item is even cheaper. Is there a system you all have or something that tells you when to use your coupons?? Thanks.

It's so individual that I'm afraid to give advice, but here's how I do it. Of course, when it's a moneymaker or free, that's the best time. Otherwise, I have a rock bottom price in my head for any given item, and when it hits that price, I buy enough of it to last a few months, or until I think it will be that price again.

I heard that alot of people keep track by writing everything down.. For example if you want to buy ajax dishwashing soap you list the price down as you visit each store you go to. It's good to start a journal of all the merchandise that you buy all the time. That way you know who sells it cheaper. To be a good shopper you have to list everything you do : rebates offers, contacting companies for coupons and anything that you save money with.

I use a Price Book that I carry with my horde of coupons. as rosebud said, you just write it down, then you always have it to reference. Keep as little or as much detail as you need (ie, store, date, sale, cpn, etc). I have way too many other things to remember! I haven't been able to write in it for a few weeks (since I broke my arm), but it's still great reference...especially as we moved to a new state, 3 mos ago, it's interesting to comnpare prices that way.

Once you get a stockpile established its easier to set your price ideas. For me I have so much toothpaste that i will not pay for it any longer. Shampoo depends on the brand but basically no more than a dollar for the best stuff.
Food items are a little bit harder but when I get a good coupon and good sale and cheap stuff I buy what I can.
