Default What values do you consider the most important? Why?

I'm curious to see if everyone has the same focus in their lives when it comes to values and what things are the most important.

Decentcy, respect, moderation, obedience...to name a few. Could you give us an example Lisa? Are you asking generally speaking, specific values we want for our children, for ourselves, to teach our children about toward the world?

I've never thought about them in separate ways, like you mentioned. I've always considered any values I'd want to teach my children to be the same values that I'd want to have myself. I hope that makes sense

Honesty, hard work, integrity and spirituality are a few I try to live by and teach my kids. I want them to never think it's OK to cheat on a test just because they can get away with it. Someone once said that the measure of a person is what they do when no one's looking.

Do to others what you would have them do to you. If it harms no one then do what you want to.

To honor and respect themselves and others.

To stand up for what they believe in.

To never make excuses but to strive for understanding and find solutions.

Not to do to others what they do not want done to themselves.

To never stop asking questions; they may just find an answer this world really needs!

Honesty/trust/honoring commitments: I feel there's little without that.

Loving & taking care of your family, then your friends. United we stand.

Contributing positively to your community (especially locally) & being compassionate to the needy. I believe there's no doubt that giving to others improves your life, your health, & your after life.

Being curious, open minded, & continuously learning. This includes a love of books that has been strong in my family for many generations. An important aspect of mental health & longevity.

Having fun, & being able to laugh at yourself. An important part of physical & mental health.

Exercise & proper eating habits. Same as ebove.

Being a great consumer. Feels good (to me) & is a part of supporting family now & in the future.

The legacy that I want to leave to my children, that I strive to live by:
To value the knowledge of God above everything else
To serve wholeheartedly those around them
