Whatage did you get arthritis?
I think I am getting some arthritis in my hands. I am in my late twenties now, which seems a little young to start having problems. What age did your arthritis start?

It's ironic I should read your question tonight. I went to the emergency room last night, because my hand felt like I had broke it. It really hurt. I couldnt stand it. After taking exrays, the doctor informed me that I had arthritis in my hand. I am in my early thirties. All I could say was Are you sure? I think I would rather have it broken. At least that would heal. So now I am left with wondering how I am gonna deal with my right hand being almost useless part of the time. Not a happy camper here tonight!!!

I am in my mid-thirties and also have that type of pain in my knees. I am pretty sure it's arthritis. On days when it's supposed to rain I actually notice it a little bit more! Pretty weird.

I have had arthritis for about 20 yrs,i'm 55 now.my brother was hospitalized when he was around 5,so i think you can gt arthritis at any age.i have osteo-arthritis,and a bulging disc,so i am often in a lot of pain.find a good doctor, and always take the prescribed meds,i used to take them till i felt better, now i take them as i'm supposed to!

When I was sixteen my knee doctor told me that I had the early signs of arthritis in my knees. So far it hasn't gotten really bad. I can tell when a bad storm is coming, and if I go jogging or for a long hike or do high impact exercise, I can feel it in my knees. Most of the time it doesn't bother me though. I think I have it in my back, but when I went to the doctor she didn't want to do xrays. I am 28 now. It runs in my family, but it usually doesn't become severe.

Arthritis at any age
No one may really read this but I am putting it out there anyhow. My daughter was only 2 years old when we found out she had arthritis. She has JRA. We still cope with it and she is now 10. In some ways I believe she was born with it. Her legs were never really straight and we found out later when she was almost 2 that is was the arthritis. It has affected her wrist, finger, a few toes, an elbow, and both knees. Now you can't really tell anything is wrong. (Thank you Jesus) She takes one shot a week called Embrel and nothing else. Well she does take a lot of prayer to. Now the only joints that are affected is her one knee. We see a doctor every 4 months and an eye doctor every six months but mainly because it can affect the eyes to. I always thought that arthritis had a age limit on it but I found out it don't.

Do you have info and resources you could post about JRA?
One of my son's classmates had this, and it is a difficult thing for a kid to cope with. Glad she is doing better now. I guess you like the Embrel - it is wonderful to have this available now, and only once a week.

I agree that you can get arthritis at any age. I was about mid 30s when I had the sign of arthritis in my back. I still have it until now but is doesn’t become severe.

I have it in both my knees, mine is due to repeated bone trauma though, rather than natural wear and tear.

I first got arthritis in my hands in my early 40's (same as my mother) then 3 yrs ago it started in my rt knee (which resulted in a knee replacement last Sept). Fortunately I have a terrific surgeon and now have no pain (or limp) in that knee.
