Default what's your thoughts on this

Hi everyone, hope you all are well. I have been away for awhile so no posting but just wanted to say hi. AF arrived this morn, so 16 months trying for us now. I haven't been happy with my dr for a while now, I don't think he has really been taking my situation seriously, and thinks that because we already have children, (and the fact that I just turned 40), we should just be happy with what we have.

So the treatment we have been having (tests for hubby, hsg, clomid!!) for me, even though I am already O, and now suggesting iui, may not be the right direction for us. We are sort of in the too hard basket. I just rang the state fertility group for advice, and what they told me has scared me a bit. The lady there said that at 40, time can not be wasted (which I know) but she said that iui may not be the right thing for us because my 40 yr old eggs may have a hard casing now and the sperm may not be able to penetrate the egg, and since my hubby has low motility, she has suggested we try ivf with icsi (microinjection) into the sperm.

Do you think this is the way to go now, I wonder why our dr has not explained this to us. I am quite upset thinking that maybe we have wasted this time on this dr, when we should have been seeing someone else. There is a dr 2 hrs away that has been recommended to me that tells it how it is, so we might go and see him next week, before doing the iui. Whats the point if it won't work, or would there still be a chance? At least this new dr may tell us we are wasting our time, or give us the right direction.

Any thoughts? Best wishes to you all and best of luck with TTC
