I have a nova T IUD.
pros are..
I can't forgot to use it.
It can stay in for 5 years.
It doesn't contain hormones.

Cons are

It sometimes makes my AF a bit heavier but I'm not sure if that's not age and having had 5 babies.
It's undignified to get it put in but not painful.

we have always used condoms except after i had Gabby then i realied upon BFing til AF came back... although, atm we only really use them around O (about 4-5 days before O is due til about 3-4 days after O) so i guess you can say we are using natural family planning too

Pros

no hormones
different styles, so you can find one that you like
can buy them at most supermarkets or drug store/chemist
don't need a prescription
no need to go to the Dr's for script/fitting/put in

Cons

could break (in 7 and a half years i've had only one break)
depending on how much and often you have sex it could get expensive
you have to stop and put it on before sex
you need to make sure you buy them or you could run out
guys complain that they feel funny

I had an IUD and loved it at first because I didn't have to remember to take a pill or put on a condom. Well, my hormones started to go haywire and I felt like I was going to fall to pieces any minute. Before my son I was on the pill and had been on it since I was 16 because AF wasn't regular.
I had my IUD removed about 2 months ago and am on Yaz. I love it. Yes, I have to remember to take my pill, but it is part of my night time routine... Brush teeth, wash face, take pill. I like my stable hormones. I feel much better.
Try and IUD first and see how you take to it. If your hormones are like a roller coaster you might need to switch to a pill.
DH doesn't want to have a vesectomy? It is an outpatient procedure and there is hardly any down time. To me that would help you out more. Just a thought.

He's fixed now
I always thought I'd want more kids, but 3 is good for me. I'm ready to move on and watch my kids grow up now.

Before we started TTC I used the Ortho-evera patch, which I loved. Just changed it once a week. But I think they took it off the market due to stroke and blood clot risks. I really did love it though. Before that I took Ortho-tricyclin (pill), and I always forgot to take it. I would forget for a few days! Not good. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Well, talk to your Dr about your body and having more children and about BC options. There are many out there. It's all up to you. One may work for you that doesn't work for others. With having as many hads as you have, an IUD might work so it is one less thing to worry about. And when you want to have more, just go to your Dr and they can remove it and they say there is no wait period for your body to get back to normal because there are no hormones in it. I have a routine I follow every night after I put Robert to bed so the pill works for me.
Children are a blessing no matter if you have one, six or more. I myself would love to have three, but my DH looks at me like I'm nuts, but then he teases about having four. So our number is up in the air. I'm 32 so having more has it's limitations because I don't really want to be 40 and having children... I just don't think my body and brain could do it. My parents were older when I came around and it was a little hard having older parents because they were limited in how much they could do with me.
My Dr talked to me about BC about a month before my son was born. I'm sure your Dr will do the same. If not, bring it up. Try one, if you don't like it, you can switch. Good luck!

i have the mirena pros- no maintenance, ideally, you don't have to worry about it for 5 years. (my uterus is tilted, so i have to be a little more cautious and be SURE my doctor checks it at my yearly.) it postpones DH's vasectomy a few years. (i still want at least 1 more) cons- spotting while your body adjusts. i had constant spotting until a few days ago. now i'm down to A spot a day. but the spotting can range from A spot to period-like for the first THREE months. but i think i'll be done after 1 month, most women i hear are actually just a few weeks or days. at first, the strings annoyed me. (like really really annoyed me) but they're already tucked up around my cervix and probably softening. (the strings are kinda hard at first)

Why does the doc have to check it with a tilted uterus?

Also anyone have issues with insurance and bc? I never really looked into what ours covers and not sure if it is standard to cover it 100%
