Default When did your child start talking?

I have a 20 month old and a 3 month old. As of right now the 20 month old doesn't speak very well. She tries, but I can't really understand what she is saying and she gets frustrated.
I always will tell her to show me and when we get there i will tell her how to say it, but it isn't working yet. Any suggestions?
When did your child start speaking well?

my daughter is 22mths and she is speaking much the same... as long as she is saying a good range of words (even if they are only words like dog, cat, dad etc) and you and others that spend a good amount of time with her can understand most of these words then she should be fine, just keep pointing at things and telling her the words... i wouldn't worry too much until she turns 2

Every baby is different with the whole talking thing. Alex started talking just after she turned one. She said a few things by her first birthday, but her talking really started to take off at about 13-14 months. She is 2 1/2 now, and she's unbelieveable! She says new things everyday and is surprising us by singing the ABC's, counting to 20, etc.

One thing I was gonna ask is, is your daughter in daycare? Alex learns a ton of words from daycare because she's just talking all day long! She interacts with the others and I think that teaches her more words that way.

Have you had an evaluation done by a speech therapist? If you are concerned enough, I would bring it up with the pediatrician.

Kenzie is 17 months and has about 20 words she uses daily. She's been learning new words daily at this point. She's not combining words yet- except for "Hi(insert name here).

My daughter is almost 21 months old and says around 30 different words, but is not putting many of them together yet. She stays at home and compared to other kids her age that go to daycare, she is behind them. Daycare really helps and being around other kids. She picked up a lot of words from my nephew when we went home for two weeks, so I know being around other kids helps her. She knows sign language too, so sometimes that is why she doesn't use her words. I teach her words in everything we do, but I agree with previous posts, that all kids are different when it comes to talking.
