Default When do you plan Family Night?

Do you have a scheduled family night every week or does family night just happen when it happens?

We have two. One on Monday night, with just our little family and on Sunday we spend the day together as a family visiting family. My kids get really mad when we break the pattern for one reason or another. I just hope that it continues to stay that way.

My family used to have "game night" on Tuesdays. We would all eat dinner togetehr and then play a board game or two,or three...the day changed depending on other committments. I wuold get upset if we ever missed a week though.

We try to do something each monday night. Some weeks it works and some weeks it doesnt. We are trying to get it on more of a regular basis.

The LDS (Mormon) church promotes a family night on Monday nights, so there are no meetings or activities schedules, and members are discouraged from making phone calls to other families etc... in order to foster "together time" for families. We do this, and it's easy sometimes and hard others. We just have a quick thought and snack if time is short. I think the trick is consistency.

I try to do it on Monday nights due to our Church having no activities/meetings on that night. Im not very consistent though, and am trying harder to do it weekly. My boys love it!

I forgot to mention that we rotate the responsibility for family night, so the kids can feel like it's their time to direct the activity or lesson, too, and not a time for getting preached at or lectured, which is what they thought it felt like for a while (of course we didn't mean to do that, but that was their perception), so now it works much better and it's far more interesting.

We aim for a Monday night but it doesn't always happen that way.

Default Family Night - Uhm yeah.

Well, I'd like to say we plan a night, but the strangest thing is - every weekend is family night. Friday and Saturday we spend huge quantities of time together as a family, finding things to play together, watch together, read together, do together.
Sunday is a family day, which begins by the whole family going to church together. I love walking into my sweet little church with my big group of seven.

So everyday is family day around here.
