Exclamation ? when is to much fluid a problem?

I just got out of my Perinatologists office and he told me the baby was about 6 1/2 lbs which tho big for other women is small where my children are concerned. At 36 weeks Reilly (DS #2) was 8.8. BIG difference. Then he told me my fluid levels were 28. ?. IDK what that is but... he said they were still normal but at the high point in the normal range... lovely... so he leaves then comes back in as I was getting ready to clean my belly up and says I want to see you back in 10 days... I was like ok why. He then explains that if my levels go up more he wants to watch them. I cask why and I get no answer. just some bs about if they were 22 and went to 32 he would want to know. I'm thinking how does that answer my question.

Then, Lovely smart me goes and looks it up on the internet! WOW. and here I was worried about Down Syndrom! But I was wondering if anyone has had this or has any info that might help me understand where I stand on this. The problems could be major.

Just got done with my OB. He took me off the meds and we're waiting and seeing now. If I make it to the next ultrasound we'll know more or if I deliver. It could be downs, it could be other defects.

My mother is driving me CRAZY! "How can you be so calm" "This is serious" "This will change your life" WTF (sorry) but doesn't every child change your life? What does she want me to do? I don't get her!

Or it could be nothing. According to the Center of Maternal Fetal Medicine....65% of the cases are for unknown reasons.
I really hope that this is your case, but I know that you will love this baby no matter what.
Your mom is worried about the baby and worried for you. My mom would be doing the same thing.

When is the next ultrasound scheduled for?

November 25th at 10:30am EST... I feel like I need a count down. My sister wants to know why 10 days. I was like I didn't go to med school so I wouldn't know. Then she got mad when I put it off an extra day (the boys go to school tue-thu so monday wouldn't work for me. No kids aloud inthe office). My Dr said it could be nothing but that I would probly need to get weekly U/Ss. I'm more worried about him needing surgery then him having Downs. Downs I can live with as long as he's healthy. DH agrees there's no point to an amnio at this point, it's too big a risk and it wouldn't tell us anything besides Downs or no Downs. More then anything I just want to know he'll be ok. WTE says this happens so rarely 3-4% of pregnancies. I think I should play the lottery.

You're in my prayers. Pay no attention to your mom.

My mom told me that I ruined my life when I got pregnant with my daughter. I was like gee thanks, that's how you really feel about me. And guess what , it made me a better person. SO who cares what people think or say, it's your child!

Don't worry until it's time to worry that is my advice. You could be all worked up and nothing is wrong!

Hi,

High fluid was one of my many problems this pregnancy... and Jack was born completely healthy. Normal levels are up to 20 (or 25, depending on your DR). My highest ever was 34.7, but I was being checked 2x a week. The major concerns about having high levels was that I may go into pre-term labor, due to the fluid pressing on the uterus and causing contractions (which did happen, BTW), and the possibility that the baby may swim himself into trouble (getting the cord wrapped around his neck). High fluid is also an indicator of a bigger baby - mine was 9 lbs., 5 oz. at 37 1/2 weeks. It can also be caused by you having high blood sugars (which was my case). It is good that your DR is keeping a close watch, espec. where you may have other problems to deal with. GL!!
