Default Where can I find out about the state laws regarding homeschooling?

Hi! I don't have any children yet, but my husband and I have discussed homeschooling when we do. I like more information and I thought a good place to start might be by finding out the state laws regarding homeschooling. Is there some sort of website with this information?
Thanks!

Hi LisaDK,
If you look at your local school district's website there should be a section regarding homeschooling. For instance on my county's school district website I put in a search for homeschooling and it brought up "Frequently asked questions about the home study program." If not, you could call your local school district and speak with someone regarding the requirements or check out your state's department of education website.
Hope this Helps!

Default HomeSchool Laws

When I was homeschooling my son, two of my favorite sites to visit to keep current on laws and whatever are:
http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp
and
http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/...Legalities.htm
Both should have the information you are looking for! Good luck!

If you are interested in homeschooling, another great resource is Mary Pride's big book of home learning. You can easily find her books at your local library. They are great introductions to the ins and outs of homeschooling. Also, just hanging around a bunch of homeschoolers on boards like these... are great ways to get more information.
Take care,
Charisse
