Where do You have Your Reunion?
My family always holds its reunion in the NC Mountains. Mt great great grandfather bought a mountain back in the day, and with each generation the land was split apart amongst all the children, and then the childrens children. Many people sold their land, so its not all family owned now, but our reunion is always at the top at my great great grandfathers house. Where does your family hold your reunion?

This is such a great celebration of heritage. About how many people come to your reunions?

The funnest one we held was a couple years ago. We all went back to the motel my grandmother owned in Spearfish, SD, now owned by someone else. The property has about a dozen cabins and a creek running along oneside and a huge stand of pines. It was so deja vu to come back and see all the relatives sitting in a big circle in lawn chairs with huge overflowing picnic tables. I think there was at least 100 people there, if not more.

wow, that's a great story.
my wife's family gets together at a county park in Eastern Long Island. It's an annual picnic. My FIL has three brothers and one uncle who is just a few years older than the brothers, and their children and grandchildren come in various numbers. Our crew is one of the constants; my MIL pretty much is in charge. We get there early, gather up the tables, and cook breakfast for whoever arrives. most arrive at lunchtime. it's a good time, but the drive home is usually horrible.

We have ours at the 'family' church, it has also sometimes been held at a amusement park that has picnic groves (and doesn't charge admission)

We're just getting ready to have ours in Park City Utah. There are some big condos there that are pretty reasonable in the summer and there's lots to do around the area. So we rent 4 condos and share amoungst ourselves. With 8 kids and their spouses and 25 grandkids, it's a lot of people and a lot of fun. We went there last year too and my kids still talk about it. We'll probably have another one in 2 years, but will look at other places for next time.

I've only been to one family reunion in my life (42 years) and we had a great time in Miami. All 36 members arrived on a Thursday and left the next Sunday afternoon. Hotel in South Beach was decent - but the food was great .
There are plans for second one in 2009, alraedy looking forward to it.

We have ours at the VFW building in Giddings, TX. That's where our family (The Schatte family) settled. It's a small German town between Austin and Houston on High way 290. Lots of history there. There is a book written about the family, "The Wends of Texas." In 2004 we celebrated 150 years in the US.

We've had our last 2 family reunions in Vegas. Part of our family lives there and there is a lot to do other than gamble. We had a day at Lake Mead, outings to the golf courses and other day trips. The shows are wonderful and they've added quite a lot for the kids.

I think we've only had one family reunion in my family and that is always at my aunt's house on a lake here in MN. We always have them in the summer and it's always a huge party! I know that even if it's not a family reunion we always seem to go to the lake cause that's where great granadma and grandpa had lived as well so it's like second home to everyone in the family. Also, thinking about having another reunion next summer (2009) just so we can all see each other all grown up. Plus, some of us started having babies "early" as my grandma says.
