i am european , so i think violence is worser. While we lived in the states i was shocked about the violence in shows and movies during the day, but people seemed to get a heart attack when they showed a breastfeeding mother .........

I think they are equalily inappropriate, especially in a family time slot. I also think its a shame the amount of descent movies ruined as there are sex scenes for the sake of having them in there

I said sex mainly because we don't watch programs with our kids that contain a lot of violence, but sexy commericals are often aired during programs we do watch with our kids. Also we used to love to watch Dancing with the Stars as a family but it seems like every year the costumes get smaller and smaller and we didn't watch it that much this year for that reason. I think television unfortunately reflects growing attitudes about what people find acceptable. If people stopped watching shows with violence and sex or buying products with sexy commercials then the programs and commercials would change. I have sent complaints a couple of times for commercials and television programs because I felt they were inappropriate especially for the time slot they were being shown in. Some of the programs/ commercials were taken off air so my complaint along with many others did make a difference.

UGH...I wanted to scream. I still get mad when I think about that. It's MY CHOICE when I talk to my kids about that stuff. It shouldn't be shoved down our throats when we're just trying to celebrate the new years as a family.

my last word
it does not matter what is on tv, radio, internet, etc. its a matter of parenting. i was raised to not disrespect people, not commit violence, and that sex is a serious thing and should be done safe. now i am polite, not a violent person, and i only use protection. so just be a parent and teach your children what you want them to learn. comercials may bring up uncomfortable subjects but that is when they need to be addressed. when i was little things were explained to me right then, and i was told if they were right or wrong. and that is what i think about the isues now. adress the issues the way you want them to be recieved.

I voted that both are equally as bad as one another. Simply because of the times that they are put on TV. I don't have cable or anything but normal free to air tv, nor do i have any children. But for me personally, I think that TV programming is the bigger issue. For example, at the moment 2and a half men is being aired at 7pm weeknights. Then on tuesdays there is an "adults only" hour from 8:30pm.
I do like the show, however I think that a 7pm timeslot is ridiculous, especially when the main character is a womanising bachelor. Not setting a good example for children who may come accross it and think it's a "cool" show.
Just my two cents

I cannot STAND watching a movie and having to sit through a sex scene. It's disgusting and degrading for everyone.
You can't escape sex or violence, even in commercials. THat is why I don't have cable.
