There's actually been a study on this. . .I'll have to see if I can find out where. But women tend to accomplish tasks in less steps then men do, and women tend to be much better at multi tasking. So my point is. . .that it depends on the situation and the task at hand. I am 10 gazillion times better at getting my kids out the door. (Lots of stuff happening at once, lots of steps. . .) My dh has more common sense when things arrive in specific tasks. . .like driving for example. So my answer is neither have more common sense. . .just different common sense.

Me three!
I am much better at common sense relating to people/tasks involving relationships. Df has is more mechanically minded, and has more common sense as it relates to actual physical gadgets or devices. I can calm Norah down within seconds, but can't drive to save my live, lol.

I can't drive to save my life either, but I have to anyway because no one else will! My ex is a much better driver than I am, but somehow I was always the one to do most of the chauffering, although my work schedule was far less flexible. As the kids got into high school, this meant long distance driving too - with NJ conditions.
The amazing thing about being a divorced mom is that you discover all the things you really cannot do, and all the things that you thought you could not do ( or he told you that you could not do) and really can.
I drive badly, but I do repair drywall. And I sanded and polyurethaned my stairway this holiday. I don't do those things particularly well either, make mistakes, but have learned how to do it.
And I am driving my son to a party tonight. Somehow, given a choice of parents to drive him, he chose me. I may not be the better driver, but he knows who he can count on!!!

See, I don't mean to be hateful and maybe it's just who I have as my partner but I tink women have more common sense. Dh is an overly aggressive driver (thus why we won't go anywhere with him if he drives), I can follow instructions better than he can, and not just my dh, but with most men I know they tend to act impulsively without thinking about what could be the outcome of their actions. I think men have more physical abilities than women do, but women have more brains than men...jmo...

Depends on what the action is about.
Men almost never mix common sense and emotions, unless it has something to do
with women (not married), cars, or some sports.
Women, however, tend to think logicly and calmly,[star wars] so the common sense is strong with them.[/star wars]
That's why women are more carefull in driving, and men are worse at stuff such as love and such.

In full agreeance with what has already been said but I'll still add me own 2 cents.
I think that neither men nor women have more common sense. I think it depends a lot on how a person was raised and/or what their life experiences have been to lead them to being the person they are. It also depends on the specific task.( i.e. My hubby can cook a great meal out of practically nothing and I can't really cook at all.)
I've met people out there that could not read a lick but could tell you what was wrong with an engine simply by the sounds coming off it. I've also met people that were Ivy League educated that couldn't begin to tell you how to change a tire.
Common sense is a also just as variable a term as normal. Everyone has there own sense of normal. So what could be considered common sense to me could be completely off the wall to someone else.

I agree to Twinzplus3 , women are really far better at multitasking. Most men would just concentrate on the single thing they are doing. But I guess men can make a good analysis of any given situation, and that comes naturally. Depends on where the common sense is needed.
