Default why all the remakes?

it is cool to have up dated movies because of all the new technology, but come on can no one come up with their own ideas anymore for movies using the new technology?
batman, superman, kingkong, etc etc etc! I am super disappointed that they are remaking superman because no one should replace the first hero!

I hadn't heard about that. I'm disappointed too. I doubt that anyone could match the first Superman.

Smile Remakes _ Pop Culture

Boy, I couldn't agree more. I don't understand why they make movies over in the first place. They are rarely as good as the original, although sometimes, like in the case of "Sabrina" with Harrison Ford, they are.

I recently saw a remake of "Psycho" on cable television that was really bad. I've seen the movie so many times that I could tell that not one word of dialogue was changed.

Why bother? It's not like a different expression of an art form; only a pitiful parody of someone' else's fine work (Alfred Hitchcock)

Smile remakes

I know, I know. iIt's so bad that these days even spin-offs have spin-offs! Where is creativity? I think it left on the evening train.
Why does everybody have to copy everyone else? It's really kind of sad, but I have to agree with you also on the issue of waching these stupid shows.

I'm right there in my living room in front of the you -know- what too!

It's the same with music, too... all of a sudden all these bands are re-doing 80s songs (like Gwen Stefani doing TalkTalk's "It's My Life")... I guess either the people think they can do it better, or want to put their own spin on it... but a lot of times, it's just not as good as the original!!

Default Remakes

You're absolutely right!
I guess it's the way of all things, but it really is too bad. Charles Dickens once said that there weren't any news ideas, only new renditions of old ideas. Still, one can only hope that creativity and innovation live somewhere in the world!

Don't get me started on this new Superman movie! The actors are simply too young to portray these characters at the point in the timeline they're supposed to be.

No one can ever top Mr. Reeve. He was just so magnificent in that role.

Default Remakes

Hi Writehand Girl,
I couldn't agree with you more.
I always thought it was ironic that his name was Reeve and the original Superman was Reeves. Also they both met such tragic ends.
You are right though. Remakes have their place, but they are done too often and, at least in my opinion, are not generally as good as the original.
Thanks for sharing.

Just got my Entertainment Weekly with the new Superman on the cover (they've been late as I've moved and haven't changed the address with them, yet). I just can't seem to get over how un-Superman like this new guy, Brandon Routh, looks.

However, I'm willing to give it a chance and will go in with as much of an open mind as possible. It's going to be hard, though. Christopher was just spot-on in that role.
