Default Why Camp?

I usually decide to go camping so i can be around nature, and away from the hustle and bustle of the city which tends to bring me down. Why do you go camping?

Default Quiet and lower expense

My favorite place to go was in E. WA called Lyon's Ferry Park, only they closed it because it wasn't busy enough. I loved it for that reason and because they had running water bathrooms. I like the peace and quiet of camping so I don't really like places where they cram you into a parking lot.

I love being outdoors. I love taking in the very fresh air and looking at the millions of stars. I love the darkness, building a fire, and just generally "roughing it."

Default the family trip

I camp so everyone can go. The dogs get to with and have a great time. new smells, lots of hikes and I have never had a problem with them sleeping through the night because of all the activities during the day.

We did the camping thing up until the old kidest turned 14, and he didn't want to go anymore. It wasn't worth the whining to take him and we were wise enough not to leave him home alone. I found out I didn't miss it one little bit. Camping is the same as being at home with less conveniences-unless you have one of those fancy schmantzy fifth wheelers that cost more than my stick built house. If I want to see a tree, I can look out the window.

I go camping to Lake George in New York the last week in August. I am going this year, but am a little hesitant. I now have a ten month old son. I am bringing his pack and play, but still a little nervous. I am excited to get back to nature though.

It's cheap.

It's also a 'no-pressure' holiday, KWIM? No waiting to get into museums, struggling with a foreign language, paying endlessly for restaurant meals, buses and taxis, tourist attractions, etc. Just relax and listen to the birds singing, and let the kids get as dirty as they like.

Love it!

I have not been camping since I was a child. I keep telling my husband I want to start going. Everytime I see camping geer on sale I want to buy it. I just don't know if we would go. My hubby really is not the out doorsy type. Plus we live in Florida where it is to hot in the summer. Maybe some day.

I could be a smartypants and say it's because I love to sleep in the same tent with four children and a snoring man, but I'd be lying.
Technically it is cheaper than staying at a hotel for the weekend. But I have noticed - at least in Michigan, that our average campsite prices for one tent, 4 kids and 2 adults is $40. So, we're still spending $80+ for the site, food money, gas money and we always have an activity to do!
I think we go for a few reasons - we like to be outdoors and that is a great way to do it. Our kids are little and need to run around and what better place than a campground!
I know of someone who has stated she will never camp again because it is no different than playing homeless for the weekend!
