Default With IVF can you choose boy/girl tiwns?

My hubby's colleague just had twins: boy and girl. They did IVF to get pregnant. I wonder whether this is the new function of IVF that you can choose to have boy/girl twins.

It isn't allowed in the UK, you haven't said where they live so that would be a factor, you are just as likely to have boy/girl twins as same sex twins with IVF as too many people have more than one embryo implanted.

Here are the UK laws concerning this

Embryos that are known to be of a particular sex and to carry a
particular risk, compared with embryos of that sex in general, that any
resulting child will have or develop—
(a) a gender-related serious physical or mental disability,
(b) a gender-related serious illness, or
(c) any other gender-related serious medical condition,
must not be preferred to those that are not known to carry such a risk.

Yup a Glitch...I will remedy it right now

Oh and the IVF thing....Gender selection would not be done in the medical field due to ethical and legal implications. If a Couple got more the 1 egg fertilized....which most do to increase the chances of becoming PG.....then the chances of having fraternal twins increases.

Are you sure about that? How come I know people who went through IVF in UK and got boy/girl twins?

with every egg you have a 50/50 chance obviously. Boy girl twins are actually pretty common in IVF. Yes same gender can happen also. Pretty much they got lucky to have one of each. I know at one point you could do gender selection without any problems. BUT here in SD the main RE will allow gender selection under certain circumstances and no they are not all medical.
