Woman Guilty Of Killing PG Woman & Taking Her Baby
In Kansas City, MO the trial
of a woman accused of removing a baby from a pg
woman's womb,
has been been convicted and found guilty.
The pg woman died.
Lisa Montgomery (39) has been found guilty.
She apparently has a history of mental illness.
The baby girl has since been reunited with her family.
This baby girl will never know her own mother.
This is truly a very sad story.
Any thoughts on this?

Apparently this kind of thing happens more often than you'd think... not an everyday occurrence obviously, but not the first either I don't believe. I remember watching a special on A&E (I think) about infant abduction of varying degrees, including this type... scary and sad...

Here's the outcome
The jurors decided her fate today... Very fair if you ask me, she deserves everything she gets from now on!!
Verdict in Stolen-Baby Case: Execution
Friday, October 26, 2007 5:45 PM EDT
The Associated Press
By HEATHER HOLLINGSWORTH Associated Press Writer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A federal jury decided Friday that a woman convicted of killing an expectant mother and cutting the baby from her womb should receive the death penalty.
Jurors deliberated more than five hours before recommending the sentence for Lisa Montgomery. Judge Gary Fenner will sentence Montgomery, but he had told jurors he was obligated to abide by their recommendation. A sentencing date has not been set.
Montgomery, 39, was convicted Monday of kidnapping and killing Bobbie Jo Stinnett on Dec. 16, 2004, in the victim's home in the northwest Missouri town of Skidmore. She was arrested the next day in Melvern, Kan., where she was showing off the newborn as her own.
Montgomery wiped her eyes with a tissue as she left the courtroom after the verdict was announced. Her attorney, Fred Duchardt, had his hand on her shoulder.
When the jurors were asked if they agreed with the decision, each responded: "Yes, your honor." Jurors left the courthouse without speaking to reporters.
U.S. Attorney John Wood said at a news conference that he was confident justice had been served.
"I know that nothing we do can erase the pain that the family members feel," Wood said during a news conference after the verdict. "I only hope that they find some measure of justice in this outcome."
Duchardt told reporters he was saddened by the result.
"Obviously the jury had a hard time getting past the gravity of the offense," he said. "Lisa is a fragile, wonderful person. She is heartsick over what happened to Bobbie Jo and her mother and her family."
Lisa Montgomery's husband, Kevin, and his parents were not in the courtroom when the verdict was read but came in as the jurors left.
Outside court, he criticized prosecutors.
"The prosecutors gave you a circus. It's pretty bad when you think there's a winner in this," he said.
Stinnett's mother, Becky Harper, thanked the law enforcement officers who rescued her granddaughter, Victoria Jo.
"The case has finally come to a close, but we will never stop missing Bobbie Jo," Harper said, crying and surrounded by family members. "She was a sweet and loving wife, daughter and sister and would have been a wonderful mother. Our priority now is Victoria Jo. We want her life to be as normal as possible."
Prosecutors argued that Stinnett's killing and mutilation is the kind of crime for which capital punishment is intended.
Showing jurors photos of the bloody crime scene, the prosecution told jurors Thursday that Montgomery deserves to die because of the heinousness of her crime, and because computer evidence — including Internet searches on performing Caesareans — shows the crime was premeditated.
Federal prosecutor Roseann Ketchmark said Montgomery had violated Stinnett in the "most wicked way possible," then failed to seek medical attention for the infant, who was four weeks shy of her due date.
Duchardt, who claims sexual abuse during Montgomery's childhood led to mental illness, asked the jury to spare his client's life. He said emotional abuse from her mother and sexual abuse from her stepfather "killed Lisa's soul."
"I'm not ashamed to ask you all for mercy," Duchardt told the jury. "I ask for it on behalf of Lisa and all the people who love her."
Prosecutors claimed Montgomery was faking mental illness to aid her defense. They also noted that few of the many people who have been sexually abused go on to kill.
Ketchmark showed jurors crime scene photos highlighting the blows to Stinnett's head, injuries to her elbows, defensive cuts to her hands and strangulation marks.
"Look at the ragged abdominal cuts," she said. "This is vicious. This defendant mutilated her."

Horrible! I remember when that happened...the murderer found her victim by pretending to be interested in dogs. The victim (Bobbie Jo) was a breeder and had puppies to adopt-and happened to post a picture of herself being pregnant on her site, or she shared pregnant pictures of herself on a dog breeder forum (like this one, only for dogs).
I had just gotten Missy (my malt mix) through the internet 2 months before. My mom almost screamed at me when this happened. See how well I listen though? I went on to get pregnant with Conner & share my pregnancy pictures. I've even shared "too much" probably about where I'm from. You just don't think something like this could happen to you, when really, it could happen to any of us. That's the scariest part of all really.

my heart breaks for this little girl and her family. To think that could happen to anyone really is scary. I feel that the verdict is fair it takes planning to do something like this. Its not like you can look at a pregnant woman and kill her and just pray that she is far enough along for the baby to be ok.
