Default Women's hair loss after surgery

My hair is falling out. I mean, at the end of the day, there are embarrasingly noticeable clumps of it clinging to my collar. When I walk or turn my head, I can see it fall. I don't have much to begin with.

I recently had a complete hysterectomy for cancer. I was peremenopausal at the time. I haven't had radiation or chemo. Just the surgery.

MALE pattern baldness runs in my mom's family. Does anyone have experience with female baldness after hysterectomy? Should I try rogaine, or should I just "enhance" what nature never gave me much of with a wig?

Is this temporary? Anyone have any real experience with this?

I am the community manager here, so don't even THINK of spamming this thread with quacky drug spam.

Anesthesia can affect your hair, but it has turned now into months since surgery.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Thinning hair is an indicator for thyroid problems. Get a blood test for this.

Also, stress can also be a factor.

Have you over processed your hair with perms or colors?

Thought of another thing.....Are you anemic? Need iron?

Maybe you should consider taking a multivitamin w/ iron.

Thanks - I do color my hair (have it professionally done) but that was no problem before the surgery. Since the surgery, it has been really coming out. The surgery was in July.

I will try the vitamins, and if it continues, see the doctor. Any experience with Rogaine?

Only that it is expensive and that I'd find coupons for it.

Many people have used it with good success. Have to do it daily
and it will take a couple of months to see progress.

When you stop using it, the hair issues will return.
